CPC Cine Awards was an annual awards ceremony for films in the Malayalam film industry, which was crowd-sourced and hosted by a Facebook group named Cinema Paradiso Club. [1] [2] [3]
Cinema Paradiso Club, also known as CPC, was formed by a group of cinephiles in the year 2010 in Kerala, India. [1] The first crowd-sourced CPC Cine Awards was announced in 2016 for the films released in 2015 in the malayalam film industry. [4] The winners were decided by a combination of votes from members of a Facebook group and a jury[ citation needed ][ clarification needed ]. CPC Cine Awards 2017 had a change in the polling system, that the poll was open to the public. [5] The 2017 winners were declared and announced to the public on 27 January 2018 [6] [7] [8] CPC Cine Awards 2018 winners were declared on 28 January 2019 and distributed at a ceremony on 17 February 2019 at IMA House, Kochi [9] [10] [11]
CPC Cine Awards 2015 had no official ceremony. The 2016 award ceremony was held on 19 February 2017 at Cochin Palace Hotel, Kochi [ citation needed ]. Since it was a crowd sourced event, the program did not invite much media attention initially[ citation needed ]. The reactions from award winners like Vinayakan, Rajisha Vijayan, Indrans, Manikandan R Achari, Dileesh Pothan, Syam Pushkaran etc. made the news and as such awards received some media attention. [12] [13] [14] [15] CPC Cine Awards 2017 award ceremony was held on 18 February 2018 at IMA House, Kochi. [16] [17] [18] [19] The event's major draw was honouring veteran filmmaker K G George. He was draped with a ‘ponnada’(shawl) by filmmakers Sathyan Anthikad, Sibi Malayil and Kamal. [17] Also a documentary film by the name '8 ½ Intercuts – Life and Films of K G George' that was based on the life and career of KG George was screened at the event. [16] [19] CPC Cine Awards 2018 award ceremony was held on 17 February 2019 at IMA House, Kochi. [9] In the event, the senior stunt master Thyagarajan was honored with Special Honorary Award. He was draped with a ‘ponnada’(shawl) by actor Joju George and scriptwriter P. F. Mathews. [10] [11] The CPC Cine Awards 2019 award ceremony was held on 16 February 2020 at IMA House, Kochi . In the event, the two film production houses Udaya Studios, Merryland Studios were honored with Special Honorary Award [20]

CPC Cine Awards 2018 was criticized for not including actors Dileep and Alencier Ley Lopez in the final nominations. The club had declared the removal of these actors from the 2018 awards with respect to their alleged involvement in serious abuse cases against certain women co-actors which awaited court judgment. The Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress is an award presented annually at the Kerala State Film Awards of India since 1969 to an actress for the best performance within the Malayalam film industry. Until 1997, the awards were managed directly by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala. Since 1998, the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, an autonomous non-profit organisation functioning under the Department of Cultural Affairs, has been exercising control over the awards. The awardees, decided by a jury formed by the academy, are declared by the Minister for Cultural Affairs and are presented by the Chief Minister.

Poovankery Francis Mathews is an Indian author of Malayalam literature and a screenplay writer in Malayalam film and Television industries. A Winner of a National Film Award for Best Screenplay and multiple State television and other literary awards including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Novel and Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Story, he is known for his original style of writing. Literary works such as Muzhakkam, Kadalinte Manam, Adiyalapretham, Iruttil Oru Punyalan, and Chaavunilam and screenplays such as Sararaanthal, Mikhayelinte Santhathikal, Megham, Kutty Srank and Ee.Ma.Yau are his major works.
Edasseri Award is an Indian literary award given to outstanding literary works produced in Malayalam language. The award was instituted in 1982 by Edasseri Smaraka Samithi in memory of Malayalam poet Edasseri Govindan Nair. Each year a separate branch of literature, like poetry, novel, short-story etc., is considered for the award. A short-list is prepared after a preliminary scrutiny of the manuscripts and/or printed books received for consideration, and a three-member jury decides the work for award out of this short-listed selection.

He also served as co-director and wrote the dialogues for Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum (2017). Pushkaran won the National Film Award for Best Screenplay for Maheshinte Prathikaram at the 64th National Film Awards (2016).
Shyju Khalid is an Indian cinematographer, film director, and producer who works in Malayalam films. Shyju Khalid made his debut as cinematographer with Traffic (2011). His notable works are 22 Female Kottayam (2012), Idukki Gold (2013), Maheshinte Prathikaaram (2016), Traffic (2011), 5 Sundarikal (2013), Sudani From Nigeria (2018), Ee.Ma.Yau (2018) and Kumbalangi Nights (2019). He is a member of the Indian Society of Cinematographers (ISC). Malayalam Film Director Khalid Rahman and Cinematographer Jimshi Khalid are his brothers.
Ee.Ma.Yau is a 2018 Indian Malayalam-language independent tragedy film directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery and written by P. F. Mathews. It stars Vinayakan, Chemban Vinod Jose, Pauly Valsan, Bitto Davis, Kainakary Thankaraj, Dileesh Pothan and Arya Salim in the main roles. The film had its premiere on 30 November 2017 and was theatrically released on 4 May 2018. The film revolves around the death and funeral of an older man from the Latin Catholic community in Chellanam, Ernakulam district. Lijo Jose Pellissery won the Best Director Award at the 48th Kerala State Film Awards for Ee.Ma.Yau. The film won the Silver Peacock-Best Director and Best Actor awards at the 49th International Film Festival of India. It also won two awards at the International Film Festival of Kerala viz. the NETPAC Award for Best Asian film in Competition and the Golden Crow Pheasant Award for the best director. It was included in The Hindu's top 25 Malayalam films of the decade and is widely regarded as one of the defining movies of the New Wave Movement.
The Kerala State Film Award for Best Character Actress is an award, begun in 2015, presented annually at the Kerala State Film Awards of India to an actress for her performance in a Malayalam film. It replaced the Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actress, which was discontinued in 2014. The winner receives a certificate, statuette and a cash prize of ₹50,000.

Cherukad Award is an annual award given for literary works in Malayalam. The award was instituted in 1978 by Cherukad Smaraka Trust at Perinthalmanna, Kerala, India. It is named after Malayalam playwright, poet, novelist, and political activist Cherukad Govinda Pisharodi. The award comprises ₹25,000 and a citation.
Abu Dhabi Sakthi Award is a literary award instituted by UAE-based Abu Dhabi Sakthi Theatres and awarded to writers in Malayalam literature. Instituted in 1987, it is given in various categories such as novel, story, poetry, drama, literary criticism, scholarly literature and children's literature. The award for literary criticism is named Sakthi Thayat Award, the award instituted for overall contributions is named T. K. Ramakrishnan Award, and the award for other categories of literature is named Sakthi Erumeli Award.
