Sushin Shyamis an Indian music composer, instrumentalist, and singer primarily associated with Malayalam cinema. He is also a founding member of the folk metal band The Down Troddence. [1] He is known for his contributions to the films Varathan (2018), Kumbalangi Nights (2019), Minnal Murali (2021), Bheeshma Parvam (2022), Romancham (2023), Kannur Squad (2023) and Manjummel Boys (2024). His work on Kumbalangi Nights earned him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director in 2019. [2] [3] [4]
Sushin Shyam received his early education at St.Joseph's Higher Secondary School, Thalassery, and Mambaram Higher Secondary School in Thalassery. Under his father's guidance, a musician himself, Sushin learned to play the keyboard from an early age, including performing on stage at the age of 3. [5] He relocated to Chennai in pursuit of new prospects within the music industry. [6] He honed his skills during a two-year stint working with Music Director Deepak Dev. [7]
Sushin Shyam commenced his film career at the age of 19, with Deepak Dev serving as his mentor.[ citation needed ] His composition skills were showcased in the 2012 short film Oru kutti chodyam, directed by Ganesh Raj.[ citation needed ] The following year, music director Rex Vijayan enlisted Sushin's talent for programming the background score for Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi .[ citation needed ] Sushin also lent his voice to a song, "Thaazhvaram" for the film. Sushin's encounter with Rex proved to be a major turning point in his career. Encouraged by Rex, Sushin composed the background score for his next film, Sapthamashree Thaskaraha, in 2014, marking his first solo venture as a composer. In addition, he also sang the track "Kayi Ethum Doorathonde" for the film. Sushin's subsequent projects included composing the background score for Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi in 2015 and for Kismath in 2016. The Down Troddence, popularly known as TDT is a six piece thrash metal band, originally from Kannur district in Kerala, India. The band consists of Munz (Vocals), Varun Raj (Guitar), Nezer Ahemed, Sushin Shyam, Ganesh Radhakrishnan (Drums), and Advaith Mohan (Guitar). The band released its debut album titled How Are You? We Are Fine, Thank You on 1 January 2014 to positive reviews. It was produced by Keshav Dhar (Skyharbor) at Illusion Audio, New Delhi.

Kumbalangi Nights(Night of Kumbalangi) is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language drama film directed by Madhu C. Narayanan. The directorial debut was written by Syam Pushkaran and jointly produced by Fahadh Faasil and Nazriya Nazim under their production house Fahadh Faasil and Friends, in association with Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran under Working Class Hero. The film stars Soubin Shahir, Shane Nigam, Fahadh Faasil and Sreenath Bhasi, along with debutants Anna Ben, Grace Antony and Mathew Thomas in pivotal roles. The cinematography and editing were handled by Shyju Khalid and Saiju Sreedharan, respectively. The soundtrack and background score is composed by Sushin Shyam.
Virus is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language medical thriller film co-produced and directed by Aashiq Abu set against the backdrop of the 2018 Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala. Kumbalangi Nights is the soundtrack album for the 2019 Malayalam-language drama film of the same name. The film, directed by Madhu C. Narayanan in his directorial debut, features musical score composed by Sushin Shyam with the soundtrack accompanied for the film has seven songs in number. The Malayalam lyrics were penned by Anwar Ali and Vinayak Sasikumar, while the English songs featured in the album were penned by Nezer Ahamed, Shyam's bandmate in The Down Troddence rock musical band. Shyam, Sithara Krishnakumar, Sooraj Santhosh, Anne Amie, Kezia Quintal (K.Zia), Akhil Unnikrishnan a.k.a. AKEL and Yadav gave vocals for the tracks featured in the album.
Bheeshma Parvam is the soundtrack album for the 2022 Indian film of the same name. The soundtrack album was composed, produced and arranged by Sushin Shyam, distributed by 123 Musix and released on 7 March 2022. The album received positive feedback from music listeners and critics.
Romancham (transl. Goosebump) is a 2023 Indian Malayalam-language comedy horror film directed by Jithu Madhavan in his directorial debut and produced by Johnpaul George, Girish Gangadharan and Joby George under the banner of Guppy Films and Johnpaul George Productions. Based on a real life incident, the film stars Soubin Shahir, Arjun Ashokan, Sajin Gopu, Siju Sunny, Abin Bino, Anantharaman Ajay and Afsal P.H. Set in Bangalore, the plot revolves around seven unmarried men and their usage of an Ouija board, which leads to various subsequent events. The music was composed by Sushin Shyam, while the cinematography and editing were handled by Sanu Thahir and Kiran Das.

He started his career as a film costume designer in 2013 with the movie Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi. As of April 2023, Mashar has designed costumes for more than 30 Malayalam films. He is a recipient of 2020 Kerala Film Critics Association Awards for best costume designer for the movie Trance.
