Caloptilia quercinigrella [1] [2] or Povolnya quercinigrella is a moth of the family Gracillariidae. [3] [4] [5] [6] It is widely distributed in eastern North America in the United States (south to Florida and Texas) [3] [4] and Canada (Ontario). [3]
The wingspan is about 10 mm. In North Carolina, adults are active in March–April. [6] The larvae feed on Quercus species, including Quercus nigra . [3] [6] They mine the leaves of their host plant. [6]
