The Campeonato Centroamericano was a club tournament organized by CCCF the confederation of Central American and Caribbean, one of two predecesors of CONCACAF. [1]

History

The first tournament was held in 1959 with one team from North America and three from Central America. No tournament held in 1960 but a second edition was held in 1961. In 1961, the tournament was renamed to Campeónato Centroamericano y Caribe since the tournament was held between clubs from Central America and the Caribbean. This was the last edition as the following year in 1962 the CONCACAF Champions' Cup began. The Campeonato Centroamericano served as an unofficial forerunner to the international tournament between CONCACAF clubs eventually leading to the current CONCACAF Champions League.

The 2005 UNCAF Interclub Cup was the 23rd edition of the international club football competition held in the UNCAF region representing the seven nations of Central America. This was the seventh year of the current format using the name UNCAF Interclub Cup. The tournament was also a qualifying event for the 2006 CONCACAF Champions' Cup. Sixteen teams representing seven football associations took part, starting with the first qualifying games on July 26, 2005. The tournament ended with a two-legged final between Olimpia of Honduras and Alajuelense of Costa Rica. The first leg was played in Tegucigalpa, Honduras on November 23, 2005 and ended with Alajuelense earning a 1-0 victory. The second leg was played in Alajuela, Costa Rica on November 30, 2005 with Olimpia winning 1-0. Alajuelense then won the UNCAF Interclub Cup in a penalty shootout by the score of 4-2. The top three finishers in the tournament, Alajuelense, Olimpia, and Saprissa, qualified for the 2006 CONCACAF Champions' Cup.

All teams participating were champions of their respective leagues. The tournament comprised Central American and Caribbean clubs, with four from Central America and one from the Caribbean. Unlike the 1959 edition, the 1961 edition did not involve North American clubs; instead, the Central American champion from the four-team playoff would face off against the Caribbean club.

The 2022 CONCACAF League was the sixth and final edition of the CONCACAF League, a football club competition organized by CONCACAF, the regional governing body of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
