Capital High School is a public secondary school located in the south side of Santa Fe, New Mexico, United States. The school, a part of Santa Fe Public Schools, was founded in 1988 and currently holds students in grades 9-12. The school's mascot is the Jaguar. [2]
Capital High is most notable for its rigorous Advanced Placement and college readiness Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) programs, along with their exclusive Career Academy Capstone Mentorship program, which provides students with Medical, Business, Performing Arts and Digital Design academies.
Capital High School has seen growth in population and popularity as the south side of Santa Fe continues to expand.
Capital High School was founded in 1988, and became the second major public secondary school in the city of Santa Fe. Its building is most notable for the white pillars that surround the facility and the structure of the school resembling the old State Capitol, which is now known as the Bataan Memorial Building in Downtown Santa Fe.
The school serves sections of Santa Fe and a portion of La Cienega. [3] [4]
Previously the boundary included Los Cerrillos, Madrid and the rest of La Cienega. [5] In 2017 the district recommended changing the boundary of these areas to Santa Fe High. [6]
Capital High School currently competes in NM District 2-AAAAA of the New Mexico Activities Association. The school has won two state championships, one in boys' basketball and one in boys' soccer. These two continue to be Capital High School's most dominant athletic programs, generally being prominent contenders in state tournament competition annually. Santa Fe High School continues to be Capital High's most significant rival in all sports since it became the second public high school in the city. St. Michael's High School and Española Valley High School also have become traditional sporting rivals in recent years, with games in multiple sports attracting large attendances.

Los Cerrillos is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, United States. It is part of the Santa Fe, New Mexico Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 229 at the 2000 census. Accessible from State Highway 14 or The Turquoise Trail, Cerrillos is on the road from Santa Fe to Albuquerque, closer to Santa Fe. There are several shops and galleries, a post office, and the Cerrillos Hills State Park, which has five miles of hiking trails. The Cerrillos Turquoise Mining Museum contains hundreds of artifacts from the American Old West and the Cerrillos Mining District. It also displays cardboard cutouts of characters from the film Young Guns and information on other movies which have been filmed in and around Cerrillos.
Madrid is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, United States. It is part of the Santa Fe, New Mexico Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 149 at the 2000 census and 204 in 2010. Today, Madrid has become an artists' community with galleries lining New Mexico State Road 14. It retains remnants of its history with the Mineshaft Tavern and the Coal Mine Museum.

Cibola High School (CHS) is a public senior high school located in northwest Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is part of the Albuquerque Public Schools District. Due to rapid population growth on the west side of Albuquerque, Cibola was the largest high school in the state of New Mexico until 2006, and was overcrowded with over 3,200 students and 62 portable classrooms. School enrollment was reduced in 2007 with the opening of a new high school on Albuquerque’s west side. Volcano Vista High School opened in the fall of 2007. The following year, in 2008, CHS underwent a massive remodel and expansion of the school. The current enrollment stands at 2,197.

Gallup High School (GHS) is a public high school in Gallup, New Mexico. Gallup High School is the largest high school in the Gallup-McKinley County School District. The school's campus is relatively new as GHS moved to its current location in 1998 and the old campus became known as Gallup Junior High School, which housed 8th and 9th grade students from 1998 to 2008. In the 2008–2009 school year, Gallup started splitting their 9th and 10th grade students with cross-town Miyamura High School. The Gallup High School attendance boundary after the split will be Gallup's westside and areas located west and north of town.
Volcano Vista High School (VVHS) is a public senior high school located on the West Mesa of Albuquerque, New Mexico within the Albuquerque Public Schools District; 2014 enrollment is 2,300. The school opened in August 2007 to 9th grade students, adding 10th and 11th grades in August 2008, and 12th grade in August 2009. The first students graduated in May 2010. School colors are black, white and platinum and their mascot is the Hawks. The specific breed of hawk is cited to be a Redtail Hawk, as displayed in the school's main corridor.

Robertson High School (RHS) is a public senior high school in Las Vegas, New Mexico, United States. The school is part of the Las Vegas City Schools District in former East Las Vegas. The building dates from about 1945, when it was known as Las Vegas High School. The school was renamed Las Vegas Robertson High School in 1958, after the old Las Vegas High School burned down and a new building was constructed. W. J. Robertson had been the superintendent of the Las Vegas City Schools since 1941 when he suffered a fatal heart attack on November 26, 1956, at the age of 55. Mr. Robertson, born in Kansas on November 3, 1901, also served as principal at Las Vegas High School for many years prior. The colors of RHS are red and white, their mascot is the Cardinal. The enrollment currently stands at 414.
