Cenothyla is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are seven described species in Cenothyla. [1] [2]
These seven species belong to the genus Cenothyla:
Tiger beetles are a family of beetles, Cicindelidae, known for their aggressive predatory habits and running speed. The fastest known species of tiger beetle, Rivacindela hudsoni, can run at a speed of 9 km/h, or about 125 body lengths per second. As of 2005, about 2,600 species and subspecies were known, with the richest diversity in the Oriental (Indo-Malayan) region, followed by the Neotropics. While historically treated as a subfamily of ground beetles (Carabidae) under the name Cicindelinae, several studies since 2020 indicated that they should be treated as a family, the Cicindelidae, which are a sister group to Carabidae within the Adephaga.
Pentacomia is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 50 described species in Pentacomia, found in Central and South America.
Desmoncus is a genus of mostly climbing, spiny palms native to the Neotropics. The genus extends from Mexico in the north to Brazil and Bolivia in the south, with two species present in the southeastern Caribbean.
Brasiella is a genus of tiger beetles in the family Cicindelidae. There are more than 50 described species in Brasiella.
Cheilonycha is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are at least three described species in Cheilonycha.
Ctenostoma is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 120 described species in Ctenostoma.
Megalomma is a genus of beetles in the family Cicindelidae, containing the following species:
Odontocheila is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 70 described species in Odontocheila, found in South America, Central America, and Mexico.
Oxycheila is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 50 described species in Oxycheila.
Oxygonia is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 20 described species in Oxygonia, found in Central and South America.
Paraphysodeutera is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. This genus has a single species, Paraphysodeutera naviauxi. It is found in Madagascar.
Peridexia is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are at least four described species in Peridexia, found in Madagascar.
Physodeutera is a genus of Tiger Beetles endemic to Madagascar. There are more than 60 described species in Physodeutera.
Pronyssa is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are about eight described species in Pronyssa.
Ronhuberia is a genus of beetles in the family Cicindelidae, containing the following species:
Waltherhornia is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are at least two described species in Waltherhornia, both found in Madagascar.
Tetracha fulgida, common name bright metallic tiger beetle, is a species of beetles of the family Cicindelidae.
Roger Naviaux was a French entomologist known for his work on beetles.
Cicindelini is a tribe of tiger beetles in the family Cicindelidae, containing the overwhelming majority of genera and species in the family. There are more than 90 genera and 2,000 described species in Cicindelini.
Dromica dobbersteini is a species of tiger beetle, described by Schüle and Moravec in 2002. It is currently only known from Eswatini (Swaziland).
