Chelsea Spencer (born May 15, 1983) is an American, former collegiate All-American, professional four-time All-Star, softball player, who is currently the head coach at California. [1] She played college softball as a shortstop for the California Golden Bears in the Pac-12 Conference, and helped them to the 2002 Women's College World Series national title and two runner-up finishes in 2003 and 2004. Playing career

After graduating from Arroyo High School in San Leandro, California, Spencer played softball at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) and started at shortstop from 2002 to 2005. During her time at California, she helped the Golden Bears to 4 straight Women's College World Series berths and a Pac-10 Title. Spencer graduated from UCB with a degree in American Studies in 2005. Spencer was drafted twenty-second overall in the 2005 NPF Draft by the New York/New Jersey Juggernaut of the National Pro Fastpitch league and played for several teams from 2005 to 2010, and won a title in 2009. [5]

Texas

On July 10, 2018, Spencer was announced as an assistant coach for the Texas Longhorns softball team. [6]

California

On May 20, 2020, Spencer was announced as the new head coach for the California Golden Bears softball team. [7] [8] [9] [10] She is the first openly LGBT head coach to lead the Cal program. [11]

The California Golden Bears are the athletic teams that represent the University of California, Berkeley. Referred to in athletic competition as California or Cal, the university fields 30 varsity athletic programs and various club teams in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)'s Division I primarily as a member of the Pac-12 Conference, and for a limited number of sports as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). Victoria Noel Galindo-Piatt, commonly known as Vicky Galindo, is an American, former collegiate All-American, medal-winning Olympian, three-time professional All-Star, softball player and current head coach at West Valley College. An infielder at second and third, Galindo played college softball at West Valley and later for California in the Pac-12 Conference, helping them to back-to-back national runner-up finishes at the 2003 and 2004 Women's College World Series. She was drafted to the Chicago Bandits of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) winning two championships. She also played for the United States women's national softball team, winning a silver medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Benjamin Abraham Braun is an American former men's college basketball coach and college basketball analyst. He served as the head men's basketball coach at Siena Heights University (1977–1985), Eastern Michigan University (1986–1996), the University of California, Berkeley (1996–2008), and Rice University (2008–2014), compiling a career coaching record of 615–517. He won the most games (185) of any head coach history of the Eastern Michigan Eagles men's basketball program and was named Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year three times. As the head coach of the California Golden Bears, he won the Pac-10 Coach of the Year and had a 219–154 record (.587). Braun currently is a studio and game basketball analyst for the Pac-12 Network.

Connie Sue Clark is an American, former collegiate All-American right-handed softball pitcher and head coach. Clark began her college softball career at the junior college level before finishing her last two years with the Cal State Fullerton Titans from 1986–87 and leading them to the 1986 Women's College World Series championship title. She is the Big West Conference career leader in ERA and WHIP for her two seasons, she also ranks top-10 for those records for both the Titans and the NCAA Division I.

The California Golden Bears softball team is the college softball team representing the University of California, Berkeley in NCAA Division I. The team plays its home games at Levine-Fricke Field, which is located in Strawberry Canyon near California Memorial Stadium. While the stadium was built in 1995, it is not up to the standards of the NCAA, and therefore cannot host NCAA tournament games. She was the head coach of the California Golden Bears softball team from 1988 until March 3, 2020 when she resigned—effective immediately—for health reasons. When she resigned, she ranked ninth all-time in wins in college softball history with a career record of 1,355-687-1.

Jolene Nicole Henderson is an American, former collegiate All-American, professional All-Star, right-handed hitting softball pitcher and first baseman and softball Assistant Coach, originally from Elk Grove, California. She was a starting pitcher for the California Golden Bears from 2010-13 where she is the career leader in wins and was a 4-time All-Pac-12 player. She is the reigning National Pro Fastpitch Pitcher of The Year after being drafted #3 overall in 2013 and currently ranks top-10 in career wins, ERA, WHIP and fielding percentage and is on the roster for the independent softball team the USSSA Pride. She also played on the United States women's national softball team in 2014.

The 2019 California Golden Bears football team represented the University of California, Berkeley in the 2019 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They competed as members of the North Division of the Pac-12 Conference. In their third year under head coach Justin Wilcox, the Bears improved to an 8–5 record for only the second time since 2009, finishing 2nd in the Pac-12 North.

The history of California Golden Bears football began in 1886, the team has won five NCAA recognized national titles - 1920, 1921, 1922, 1923, and 1937 and 14 conference championships, the last one in 2006.
