The adult may be often confused with the northern checkerspot (C. palla) and Hoffmann's checkerspot (C. hoffmanni). [3] The adult's wingspan is 33–44 mm (1.3–1.7 in). [3]
There is one flight that occurs between May and early September in Canada. [3] The caterpillar of this species feeds on rabbit-brush ( Chrysothamnus viscidiflorus ) and desert-aster ( Machaeranthera species). [1] [3]
