Christian Alliance P.C. Lau Memorial International School (CAPCL) is an Evangelical Christian Primary international school in Hong Kong. The school uses the curriculum of Alberta, Canada. It is affiliated with the Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance.

History

Christian Alliance P.C. Lau Memorial International School (CAPCL), formerly known as Christian Alliance International School (CAIS) in short, [1] is a primary and secondary Christian school owned and operated by Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance  [ zh ] (KTAC). CAIS began operation in September 1992 with approximately 40 secondary school students. In 1995, the school expanded to include elementary education.[ citation needed ] The international school used the former campus of Christian Alliance College  [ zh ] in Ma Tau Chung, Kowloon City District, which also founded by KTAC. Christian Alliance College relocated to Tuen Mun, New Territories in 1992 in phases. The last class of Christian Alliance College in Ma Tau Chung campus was held in 1995–96 academic year. [2]

Christian Alliance P.C. Lau Memorial International School closed down for renovation in 2017.

In 2020, the original campus in Ma Tau Chung was re-opened as a primary school under the original full name Christian Alliance P.C. Lau Memorial International School. [3]

Academics

The school maintains an evangelical Christian environment and requires all students to speak English. CAPCL utilizes the curriculum of Alberta Education with a bilingual program at all grade levels. The medium of instruction is "approximately 65% English and 35% Chinese (Mandarin with traditional script)". [4]

Alliance Bible Seminary, is a C&MA seminary, located in Cheung Chau, Hong Kong. The seminary was originally founded in 1899 in Wuzhou, Guangxi, under the name Alliance Bible College. Established by missionaries Dr. Robert Glover and Robert A. Jaffray, ABS was the first C&MA seminary to be founded overseas, and one of the first seminaries in South China. In 1949, the seminary was moved to Cheung Chau, Hong Kong by Dr. William C. Newbern after the Communist takeover of mainland China. ABS was founded before any church plant and trained many of its students for missionary work. After they graduated, most were sent to establish new churches. Hence, most churches of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Hong Kong were planted by their graduates.
