Clanoptilus is a genus of beetles belonging to the family Melyridae. [1]
A genus is a taxonomic rank used in the biological classification of living and fossil organisms, as well as viruses, in biology. In the hierarchy of biological classification, genus comes above species and below family. In binomial nomenclature, the genus name forms the first part of the binomial species name for each species within the genus.
Melyridae are a family of beetles of the superfamily Cleroidea.
Clanoptilus barnevillei is a species of beetles belonging to the family Melyridae, the soft-winged flower beetles.
Clanoptilus elegans is a species of beetles belonging to the family Melyridae, the soft-winged flower beetles. It is found in Europe.
Clanoptilus marginellus is a species of beetles belonging to the family Melyridae.
The Zopheridae family of beetles has grown considerably in recent years as the members of two other families have been included within its circumscription; these former families are the Monommatidae and the Colydiidae, which are now both included in the Zopheridae as subfamilies or even as tribe of subfamily Zopherinae. Some authors accept up to six subfamilies here, while others merge all except the Colydiinae into the Zopherinae.
Buprestis is a genus of beetles in the family Buprestidae, the jewel beetles. As of 2011 there were 78 described species distributed across most of the world's ecozones except parts of Africa and Antarctica.
Omorgus is a genus of beetles of the family Trogidae.
Aphodius is a genus of beetles in the Scarabaeidae family. In most species both the adults and larvae are coprophagous although some species have herbivorous or saprophagous larvae. Aphodius species typically dominate dung beetle communities in north temperate ecosystems. Most species are functionally classified as endocoprids, also known as dwellers, because the larvae live and feed within the dung pat itself.
Anthaxia is a genus of beetles in the family Buprestidae, containing the following species:
Chalcophora is a genus of beetles in the family Buprestidae, containing the following living species:
Acmaeodera is a genus of beetles in the family Buprestidae, a group of metallic wood-boring beetles favored by insect collectors. Whereas most beetles including most buprestids fly with their elytra held out and vibrating their hindwings to give lift and thrust, the Acmaedodera, however, fly with their hind wings only — the elytra are fused down the center and form a shield over the insect's abdomen, even during flight. This fact, combined with the banding across the abdomen which is common in this family, gives many of them a distinct wasp-like appearance when in flight. Several are therefore considered hymenopteran mimics.
Chrysoprasis is a genus of beetles in the family Cerambycidae, containing the following species:
Atrypanius is a genus of beetles in the family Cerambycidae, containing the following species:
Eutrypanus is a genus of beetles in the family Cerambycidae, containing the following species:
Chrysis is a very large genus of cuckoo wasps. It is the largest genus in the family, including over 1,000 species, as large as the rest of the Chrysididae together. The generic name is derived from Greek chrysis, "gold vessel, gold-embroidered dress", and pays tribute to the brilliant metallic appearance of wasps in the genus.
Malachius is a genus of soft-winged flower beetles belonging to the family Melyridae subfamily Malachiinae. Malachius species have been reported from Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and in former Yugoslavia.
Chrysura is a genus of cuckoo wasps which parasitize megachilid bees. There are 117 species in Chrysura, all but 11 of which are found in the Palaearctic. The genus was described by Dahlbom in 1845, and the type species for the genus is Chrysura austriaca. It is the third largest genus in the family Chrysididae.
Colobothea is a genus of longhorn beetles of the subfamily Lamiinae.
