Montgomery County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 U.S. census,the county had a population of 620,443. The county seat is Conroe. The county was created by an act of the Congress of the Republic of Texas on December 14,1837,and is named for the town of Montgomery. Between 2000 and 2010,its population grew by 55%,the 24th-fastest rate of growth of any county in the United States. Between 2010 and 2020,its population grew by 36%. According to the U.S. Census Bureau,the estimated population is 678,490 as of July 1,2022.

The 1964 United States presidential election in Texas was held on November 3,1964,as part of the 1964 United States presidential election. The Democratic Party candidate,incumbent President Lyndon B. Johnson,comfortably won his home state of Texas with 63.32% of the vote against the Republican Party candidate,Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona,who won 36.5%,giving him the state's 25 electoral votes and a victory margin of 26.8 percentage points. Johnson won the 1964 election in a landslide,carrying 44 states plus the District of Columbia,which participated for the first time. Goldwater only carried his home state of Arizona,along with five Deep South states which had been historically Democratic,but defected to the Republican Party due to the Democratic Party’s support for civil rights. Due to its status as Johnson's home state,in 1964,Texas was the most Democratic of the 11 states of the former Confederacy and the only one which leaned more Democratic than the nation at-large.

Kennedy,narrowly won the state of Texas with 50.52 percent of the vote to the Republican candidate Vice President Richard Nixon's 48.52%,a margin of two percent,giving him the state's 24 electoral votes. Despite the presence of U.S. Senator Lyndon B. Johnson on the Democratic ticket,the result made Texas the tenth closest state in the election. Nixon's strong performance in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex,Harris County,the Panhandle,and the Hill Country kept the race close.

At the present time there is only one Convention Party in Texas,that is the Libertarian Party. Other parties may seek to achieve ballot access.

August Lee Pfluger II is an American politician and retired military officer from the state of Texas. He is the U.S. representative for Texas's 11th congressional district. Pfluger succeeded fellow Republican Mike Conaway in 2021.
