Heriberto "Eddie" Morales Jr. (born January 24,1975) [1] is an American attorney and politician. He has represented the 74th District in the Texas House of Representatives since 2021. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
Born in Piedras Negras,Coahuila,Mexico in 1975,Morales graduated from Eagle Pass High School in Eagle Pass,Texas in 1993. [2] [3] He subsequently attended the University of Texas at Austin,where he received a BA in Political Science and a double minor in Business and Spanish in 1997. Morales later earned his Juris Doctor from the St. Mary's University School of Law in 2000. Since then Morales has worked for Langley &Bannack back in Eagle Pass. [3] During his high school years,he helped at his family's business,Piedras Negras Tortilla Factory in Eagle Pass. [2]
Morales announced in November 2019 to run for the Texas House of Representatives District 74th seat,that was being held by Poncho Nevárez at the time. [2] Representative Nevárez announced in late 2019,that he would not seek re-election for the 87th legislature. [2] Morales won the 2020 election for the seat against Ruben Falcon (a Republican) with 53.9% of the vote in November 2020. [4]
Morales ran for re-election in 2022 against Katherine Parker (Republican) and won with 55.7% of the vote. [5]
Morales supports legal immigration,expanding worker visa permits and bracero-type visas for farming and agriculture. He is also in favor of a controlled and secured border using a combination of manpower,advanced border security technology and a physical border. [6]
Morales is in favor of increasing the basic allotment for public schools,including teacher raises.
Morales supports expanding Medicaid,so that all receive quality and affordable healthcare. He stated[ when? ] that six of the 12 counties have three or less physicians. Three counties within the district have zero physicians servicing their communities. [6] Morales is also an advocate for mental health resources for West and South Texas.
Morales supports more funding in his district for transportation,as he believes roadway access between communities through a modernized roadway is essential for the safety of our citizens and the growth of communities. He states that cities and counties in the district cannot afford significant infrastructure investments. [3] [6]
Maverick County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census,its population was 57,887. Its county seat is Eagle Pass. The county was created in 1856 and organized in 1871. It is named for Samuel Maverick,cattleman and state legislator.
Piedras Negras is a city and seat of the surrounding municipality of the same name in the Mexican state of Coahuila. It stands at the northeastern edge of Coahuila on the Mexico–United States border,across the Rio Grande from Eagle Pass in the U.S. state of Texas. In the 2015 census the city had a population of 163,595 inhabitants,while the metropolitan area had a population of 245,155 inhabitants. The Piedras Negras and the Eagle Pass areas are connected by the Eagle Pass–Piedras Negras International Bridge,Camino Real International Bridge,and the Union Pacific International Railroad Bridge.
U.S. Highway 57 (US 57) is a 98-mile (158 km) north–south intrastate United States highway that follows a nearly east–west route in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Texas. The highway's northern (eastern) terminus is about 50 miles (80 km) south of San Antonio,Texas,between Devine and Pearsall,at an intersection with Interstate 35. Its southern (western) terminus is in Eagle Pass,at the Rio Grande,where it continues into Piedras Negras,Coahuila,as Mexican Federal Highway 57.
Rubén Eloy Hinojosa is an American politician who served as the U.S. representative for Texas's 15th congressional district,from 1997 to 2017. He is a member of the Democratic Party. The district stretched from Seguin,to McAllen on the Mexican border. Much of the region was rural although Hidalgo County is part of the third-fastest-growing metropolitan statistical area in the country. Hinojosa served on the Financial Services and Education committees.

It serves domestic flights within Mexico for the Eagle Pass-Piedras Negras binational metropolitan area,the northern Coahuila region and Southern Texas. Passengers traveling to destinations in the United States typically utilize the larger San Antonio International Airport. Piedras Negras Airport is operated by Administradora Coahuilense de Infraestructura y Transporte Aéreo,a state-owned operator. It handled 24,170 passengers in 2019,and 9,481 passengers in 2020.

In 1997 he bought his first McDonald's franchise and in 1999 he earned his MBA degree from the University of Arkansas,Little Rock. After moving to Oklahoma in 1999,Hern expanded his McDonald's franchises,eventually owning 18 franchises in the Tulsa metropolitan area. In 2018,he ran his first campaign for office and was elected to the United States House of Representatives.
On May 4,2019,the city of Dallas,Texas,held an election to choose the next Mayor of Dallas. The election began as a nonpartisan blanket primary,no candidate took a majority of over 50% of the total vote so the two top vote-earners Eric Johnson and Scott Griggs advanced to a runoff election on June 8. Incumbent mayor Mike Rawlings was unable to run for reelection due to term limits. Dallas also concurrently elected all 14 members of its city council,and 3 of the 9 total members of the Dallas Independent School District. Johnson won the runoff with 55.61%.

The current representative is Eddie Morales Jr.,who has represented the district since 2021.
