Cowal RFC is a rugby union side based in Dunoon, on the Cowal Peninsula, in Argyll and Bute, west of Scotland. [1] The club was founded in 1976. [2] They play their home games at Dunoon Stadium. [3]

History

The club runs a men's XV, a women's XV and junior sections. [4]

It runs a rugby festival to introduce the local primary schools to rugby. [5]

The Cowal Junior side played its first competitive match at Scotstoun Stadium on 8 March 2019. They played against Moffat RFC in a half time match during the Women's Six Nations Championship Scotland v Wales match. [6]

The local Rugby Development Officer works with the four main schools in Cowal RFC's catchment area and this has helped boost the junior numbers coming to the club. [7]

Kirn is a village on the Cowal Peninsula, in Argyll and Bute in the Scottish Highlands on the west shore of the Firth of Clyde on the Cowal peninsula. It now forms part of the continuous habitation between Dunoon and Hunters Quay, where the Holy Loch joins the Firth of Clyde. It originally had its own pier, with buildings designed by Harry Edward Clifford in 1895, and was a regular stop for the Clyde steamer services, bringing holidaymakers to the town, mostly from the Glasgow area.

Loch Eck is a freshwater loch located on the Cowal Peninsula, north of Dunoon, in Argyll and Bute, west of Scotland. It is seven miles long. It is oriented in a north-south direction. Its main inflow, at the northern end, is the River Cur, and its main outflow, at the southern end, is the River Eachaig, which meanders somewhat within the confines of the broad strath before flowing into the head of Holy Loch, about 5 km further south.

Dunoon Stadium is a single-tier grandstand and natural environ in Dunoon in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. A cinder track surrounds a central grassed area, overlooked from the south by the grandstand. Today, the stadium is the focal point of the Cowal Highland Gathering.
