Distribution

The species was described based on specimens from southwestern Atlantic Ocean in Golfo San Matías  [ es ], Argentina (type locality). [1]

Description

The maximum recorded shell length is 52.2 mm. [4] The species is morphologically distinct from other species of Crepidula. [5] These anatomical differences include a projecting apex and the absence of a periostracum. [5] It also has a thicker columellar muscle than other mature Atlantic species of Crepidula. [5]

Habitat

Minimum recorded depth is 10 m. [4] Maximum recorded depth is 20 m. [4] It attaches to hard substrata. [5]

Crepidula plana, common name the eastern white slippersnail, is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Calyptraeidae, the slipper snails or slipper limpets, cup-and-saucer snails, and hat snails. This species is characterized by a flat white shell, a white body, and development that includes a planktotrophic larval stage.
