Daniel Taylor (born May 12, 1982) is an American shot putter. He is currently sponsored by Nike. He is currently competing around the world in track and field.

High school

He attended Berkshire High School in Burton, Ohio, and was a letterman in football and track and field. In football, he garnered first team All-North East Ohio honors.

He was much more successful in track and field. In his sophomore year of high school he won the Division III state discus title with a throw of 167' 4". Taylor also holds the OHSAA Division III state discus record at 200' 11".

Taylor's best finish in the shot put in the state championship was 2nd in 1999, during this year Berkshire High School was a Division III school. [1]

His personal best throw is 21.78 metres, achieved in May 2009 in Tucson. [2]

College

Taylor attended Ohio State University. He graduated in 2005 with a B.S. in Agriculture. He majored in Construction Systems Management and minored in molecular microbiology and in City and Regional Planning. While at Ohio State University, He was a 2 time NCAA Champion, an 11 time NCAA All-American, and a 7 time Big Ten Champion.

Ryan Crouser is an American shot putter and discus thrower. He is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and Olympic record holder. Crouser is the current world record holder in the shot put, both indoor and outdoor. On May 27, 2023, Crouser reset his outdoor world record with a throw of 23.56m bettering his previous world record by 7.48 inches/19 cm. In 2021, at the U.S. Olympic Trials he threw 23.37 m to break Randy Barnes's 31-year-old record of 23.12 m by almost 10 inches (25 cm). Crouser is also a two-time World Champion and the World Championship Record holder in the shot put 23.51m, just 2+12 in off his world record.

Oyesade "Sade" Olatoye is a Nigerian athlete competing in the shot put and hammer throw. She represented the United States in 2016 at the IAAF World U20 Championships ion Bydgoszcz, Poland. She switched allegiance from the United States to Nigeria in 2019. She represented Nigeria in the shot put at the 2019 World Championships in Doha, Qatar. Earlier that year, she won two medals at the 2019 African Games.
