Darocasorex (named after the town Daroca in Spain, close to the place where its fossils were found) [1] is an extinct shrew which existed in Europe during the Miocene epoch. [1] It was first named by Jan A. van Dam in 2010. [1]

The Johannesburg Botanical Garden is located in the suburb of Emmarentia in Johannesburg, South Africa. The gardens grew out of a large rose garden that was established in 1964 and subsequently expanded from 1969 to cover an area of around 125 hectares (1.25 km2). It is administered by Johannesburg City Parks. The Emmarentia Dam is situated immediately to the east of the garden and shares its extensive acreage. Turiasorex is an extinct genus of shrew which existed in east central Spain, during the middle and late Miocene. Its fossils have been recovered from the Calatayud-Daroca and Teruel basins, Spain. It was first named by Jan A. van Dam, Lars W. van den Hoek Ostende and Jelle W. F. Reumer in 2011 and the type species is Turiasorex pierremeini.
