Davis station (CTA)

Davis is a station on the Chicago Transit Authority's 'L' system, on the Purple Line in Evanston, Illinois. It is located at 1612 Benson Avenue (directional coordinates 1600 north, 800 west), in the middle of downtown Evanston, and next to the Davis Street stop of Metra's Union Pacific North Line. The station is also a terminus for one CTA and two Pace bus routes. The station is referred to as the Davis Transit Center by Pace.

The current station was reconstructed from 1992 until 1994, and is made out of brick and concrete with a spacious metal and glass train shed, but lacks the styling or decoration found in many other CTA stations, giving Davis a modern urban, if utilitarian, feel. The station sports two prominent clock towers, on the west and east sides. It has several different paintings hanging in various areas of the platform. It also has a light board system, as well as a speaker system to alert passengers of train delays. There is a retail space on the lower level, near the fare card vending machines.

Davis is one of the four test sites for the Active Transit Station Signs (ATSS) program. In September 2002, the signs were installed at the station. The signs display preprogrammed and service-related messages as well as a countdown until the next train; however, the Davis station's signs do not display the countdown feature due to a programming glitch. The Yellow Line, also known as the Skokie Swift, is a branch of the Chicago "L" train system in Chicago, Illinois. The 4.7-mile (7.6 km) route runs from the Howard Terminal on the north side of Chicago, through the southern part of Evanston and to the Dempster Terminal in Skokie, Illinois, making one intermediate stop at Oakton Street in downtown Skokie.

Trains on the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad also stopped at Howard from 1926 until that line was abandoned in 1963.

Trains are scheduled to depart from O'Hare every 2–7 minutes during rush-hour periods and take about 40 minutes to travel to the Loop. It is the westernmost station of the Chicago 'L' system. It is also the only station without coordinates in Chicago's grid system, the only underground terminus, and is the only terminal that does not directly connect to any CTA or Pace buses. Uniquely among "L" stations, it serves airport passengers and employees exclusively, and is not accessible by foot beyond airport terminals 1, 2, and 3. Rosemont, formerly River Road, is a Chicago "L" station at the intersection of River Road and I-190 in the suburb of Rosemont, Illinois. It is located in the median of I-190 with one island platform serving two tracks, 16 miles (26 km) northwest of The Loop. Trains are scheduled to depart from Rosemont every 2–7 minutes during rush-hour periods, and take about 36 minutes to travel to the Loop. The station is 7 blocks east and 2 blocks north of O'Hare International Airport. Rosemont is the busiest station outside the city limits of Chicago, with 2,090,977 passenger entries in 2014.

Cicero is a station on the Chicago Transit Authority's 'L' system, serving the Pink Line. The station was the site of an accident in 1979 in which a train derailed and hit the station, stopping just short of the ticket agent's booth. The station is located in Cicero, Illinois.

Oakton–Skokie is an 'L' station on the CTA's Yellow Line, which serves downtown Skokie. Previously, a station existed at this location which was in operation as part of the North Shore Line's Niles Center Route from 1925 until 1948, and later demolished in 1964. The current station opened on April 30, 2012.

Evanston Central Street is the northernmost of the three commuter railroad stations in Evanston, Illinois. It is an elevated station at Green Bay Road and Central Street, surrounded by a neighborhood of stores, restaurants and multi-story apartment buildings. Just north of the station, the tracks descend to grade and pass through Wilmette on ground level.
