Dead Planet is the third studio album by former Queens of the Stone Age and Kyuss bassist/vocalist Nick Oliveri and his band, Mondo Generator. The album was recorded in late 2005 and early 2006 at Dave Grohl's Studio 606 and at Donner & Blitzen studios. The album features Oliveri on bass, vocals, guitars and drums, Hoss Wright on drums, and Ben Perrier, Ben Thomas and Marc Diamond among others.

Contents

The album was originally released on the UK label Mother Tongue Records and Impedance Records of Australia in 2006, under the name Dead Planet: SonicSlowMotionTrails. Suburban Noize Records released the album on July 17, 2007 in the United States under the title Dead Planet with a different track list order, plus the remaining tracks from III The EP attached at the end.

In 2020, Dead Planet was reissued as a repress by Oliveri's current label Heavy Psych Sounds Records, featuring new cover art of Oliveri and a similar track listing to the original release. [4]

Brant Bjork is an American musician, singer, songwriter and record producer. He is best known as the drummer and founder of the influential Californian stoner rock band Kyuss. Bjork has also been a member of Fu Manchu, Mondo Generator and Vista Chino, the latter with former Kyuss members John Garcia and Nick Oliveri. He is currently the frontman and co-founder of the stoner rock power trio, Stöner. Bjork is one of the more notable figures in the stoner rock and Palm Desert scene and maintains a prolific solo career with over a dozen released albums.

Cocaine Rodeo is the debut studio album by American rock band Mondo Generator, released through Southern Lord Records on 18 July 2000. It was compiled of material recorded by vocalist/bassist Nick Oliveri with drummer Rob Oswald, vocalist/guitarist Brent Malkus, and his ex-Kyuss bandmates Josh Homme, Brant Bjork and John Garcia. III the EP is an extended play record released by Mondo Generator on November 22, 2004 by Tornado Records. This was the first release after Nick Oliveri was fired from Queens of the Stone Age. Mondo Generator embarked on a short European tour in support of this release in late 2004.

Moistboyz is an American hard rock band formed in New Hope, Pennsylvania in 1991 by Guy Heller and Mickey Melchiondo. Moistboyz music is typically fast-paced punk/metal, combining stream-of-consciousness lyrics with aggressive rock guitar riffs.

Winnebago Deal are a British rock band from Oxford. They formed in the late 1990s at Bartholomew School in Eynsham, with Ben Perrier and Ben Thomas (drums). Perrier and Thomas decided to perform as a duo after ejecting some early members. Their sound has been compared to Queens of the Stone Age and the bands who recorded for Sub Pop Records. Winnebago Deal generated strong support from many appearances at Oxford's Zodiac club, eventually supporting Fugazi at London's Forum. Their first release was the EP Plata O Plomo in 2003. They were nominated as Best British Newcomer at that year's Kerrang! awards.

Mondo Generator is an American rock band founded in 1997 by Nick Oliveri. The band has released seven studio albums, four EPs, one live album and one video album.

David "Hoss" Wright is an American drummer who has played for The Exies, and Nick Oliveri and the Mondo Generator. While part of Mondo Generator, he wrote some songs for the album Dead Planet with Nick Oliveri. His musical career began around the time he was 13 in Richmond, Virginia. He was a member of the local band Black Widow and he was the drummer of the band "JUD" based in Los Angeles. Currently working with Los Angeles based songwriter Richard James Munoz for new album release in 2017.

Demolition Day is former Queens of the Stone Age and Kyuss bassist/vocalist Nick Oliveri's first solo acoustic album. The album was recorded in 2003 and 2004 at Dave Grohl's Studio 606. The album features Oliveri on bass, vocals, guitars and percussion, as well as horns and guitars from other various artists. It was released in 2004 on vinyl only, but a split CD featuring six tracks from the album and four tracks from Mondo Generator was also released.

Australian Tour EP 2008 is an EP by Mondo Generator containing a mix of studio, acoustic, and live material. It was released to coincide with their first Australian tour in August 2008. The track "Lie Detector" is featured on the band's 2007 album Dead Planet. "Eccentric Man" was recorded at the Reading Festival in 2004, while "Unless I Can Kill" and "Simple Exploding Man" were recorded at the Troubadour in Los Angeles in December 2003.

Dog Food is an EP by Mondo Generator released on May 21, 2010. It includes a cover of Iggy Pop's song "Dog Food" featuring Dave Grohl, Happy-Tom and Marc Diamond, in addition to two acoustic studio songs and five live tracks from Nick Oliveri's Death Acoustic tour recorded at Main Street Studios in Australia in 2010.

This is a compilation of the fifth and sixth The Desert Sessions releases. Queens of the Stone Age later performed "You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire" on their Songs for the Deaf album, and "Rickshaw" has often been included in their live set. "Like a Drug" has been re-recorded and features on certain special editions of Lullabies to Paralyze. "I'm Dead" was recorded by Kyuss/Queens of the Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri in an acoustic arrangement and retitled "Day I Die" for the Mondo Generator album A Drug Problem That Never Existed. This pair of sessions featured a wider range of musicians than previous releases, including Dwarves singer Blag Dahlia.
