The deputy governor of Adamawa State is the second-highest officer in the executive branch of the government of Adamawa State, Nigeria, after the governor of Adamawa State, and ranks first in line of succession. The deputy governor is directly elected together with the governor to a four-year term of office.
Kaletapwa Farauta is the current deputy governor, having assumed office on 29 May 2023. [1] She is the first female occupant of the office. [2] [3]
The deputy governor assists the governor in exercising primary assignments and is also eligible to replace a dead, impeached, absent or ill Governor as required by the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria. [4]

Adamawa State is a state in the North-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered by Borno to the northwest, Gombe to the west, and Taraba to the southwest while its eastern border forms part of the national border with Cameroon. It takes its name from the historic emirate of Adamawa, with the emirate's old capital of Yola serving as the capital city of Adamawa State. The state was formed in 1991 when the former Gongola State was broken up into Adamawa and Taraba states. The state is one of the most heterogeneous in Nigeria, having over 100 indigenous ethnic groups.
Taraba is a state in north-eastern Nigeria, named after the Taraba River, which traverses the southern part of the state. It is known as "Nature's Gift to the Nation". Its capital is Jalingo. The state's main ethnic groups are the Fulani, Mumuye, Mambilla, Jukun, Kuteb, Karimjo Wurkun, Yandang, Ndola, Ichen, Jenjo, Tiv, Tigon, and Jibu. The northern part is mainly dominated by the Fulani, Wurkun and Mumuye. The southern part is dominated by the Jukun, Chamba, Tiv, Kuteb and Ichen. The central region is mainly occupied by the Fulani, Mambilla, Ndola, Tigon, Jibu, Wurbo, and Daka people. There are about 80 distinct ethnic groups and their languages in the state.
Atiku Abubakar ; born 25 November 1946) is a Nigerian politician and businessman who served as the vice president of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 during the presidency of Olusegun Obasanjo. He ran for the office of governor of Adamawa State in 1990 and 1996 unsuccessfully, but won in 1998. Before he was sworn in, he was selected as running mate to former military leader, Olusegun Obasanjo, during the 1999 presidential election and was re-elected in 2003.
Murtala Hamman-Yero Nyako, rcds, D.Agric. (H.C.) is a Nigerian politician and retired military officer who served as governor of Adamawa State from 2007 to 2008, and from 2008 to 2014. He previously served as military governor of Niger State from its creation in 1976 to 1977, and as Nigeria's Chief of the Naval Staff from 1990 to 1992.

Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is a Nigerian politician and currently elected governor of Adamawa State. Fintiri has served as governor of Adamawa State since 2019. He was a member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly and served as Speaker of the Assembly. He became the acting governor of Adamawa State following the impeachment of Governor Murtala Nyako in July 2014, serving until 8 October 2014.
Crowther Seth is a Nigerian politician who served as deputy governor of Adamawa State from 2019 to 2023. He previously served as the chairman of Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State and as commissioner for the Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs in Adamawa. Seth was a legal adviser to the Peoples Democratic Party prior to his nomination and election as deputy governor.

The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections were held for state governors in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but three elections were held on 18 March—concurrent with elections to every state house of assembly, three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections—while the Imo State, Kogi State, and Bayelsa State elections will be held on 11 November. Incumbent Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (PDP) was re-elected by a 3.75% margin over first runner-up and APC nominee — Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Adamawa State will be held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Adamawa State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.

She was the vice chancellor of Adamawa State University, Mubi from 2017 to 2022. She is a former Adamawa State commissioner of education and executive chairman of Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board.
The Marghi people (Margi) are an ethnic group in Nigeria, primarily residing in the states of Adamawa and Borno. They have a population estimated at 360,000 and communicate using the Marghi language. Despite having their own language, the Marghi people are usually bilingual, sometimes even trilingual. In Borno, they speak Kanuri, while in Adamawa, they speak Fulfulde, both of which are dominant languages in their respective states.
