Derric Rossy (born July 2, 1980) is an American former professional boxer and a former defensive end at Boston College. He enrolled in the Lynch School of Education with a major in human development.
Rossy knocked out Gary Bell in the second round to win the vacant New York State heavyweight title. He has also sparred with Tomasz Adamek.
Rossy played football at Patchogue-Medford High School in Medford, New York. As a senior, he won All-American honors from SuperPrep magazine, received an All-America honorable mention from USA Today, was an all-state and all-Long Island selection, and received the Hansen Award as the Suffolk County Most Valuable Player.[ citation needed ] He was also a member of his school's basketball and baseball teams.
Rossy fought only 10 amateur bouts and won the 2004 New York City Golden Gloves.
Rossy turned pro in 2004. He cruised through his first 15 bouts before suffering his first loss in a bout for the USBA heavyweight title to Eddie Chambers in 2007. In this bout Rossy suffered a broken ear drum and other injuries which short circuited his try for the title. After the Chambers loss, Rossy rebounded against journeyman veteran Zack Page winning a unanimous decision. On January 26, 2008 Derric and his promoter Sal Musumeci’s Final Forum Boxing made boxing history by promoting a heavyweight title fight for the first time in China. The event took place in the Venetian Arena, and was broadcast live before one-hundred and fifty-million viewers in China. The fight featured former world heavyweight Champion, Ray Mercer taking on Derric Rossy for the WBO/NABO Heavyweight Title, the WBC Asian Boxing Council Heavyweight Title, and the WBF Intercontinental Heavyweight Title. Looking impressive and winning by a unanimous decision. On May 3, 2008, Rossy received his second loss by German based heavyweight Alexander Dimitrenko. The fight was stopped in the fifth round, giving Dimitrenko his fourth consecutive victory by TKO and the fight was for Dimitrenko's WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight belt.
Rossy has never managed get past journeyman status, but has faced several notable opponents, including Kubrat Pulev, Audley Harrison, Fres Oquendo, and Joe Hanks. In his most recent fight, he lost a controversial decision to the unbeaten contender Vyacheslav Glazkov. [1]

Michael Lee Moorer is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1988 to 2008. He won a world championship on four occasions in two weight classes, having held the WBO light heavyweight title from 1988 to 1991; compiling 22 straight KOs in 22 fights and the WBO heavyweight title from 1992 to 1993; the unified WBA, IBF and lineal heavyweight titles in 1994; and regained the IBF heavyweight title again from 1996 to 1997 becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion.
Raymond Anthony Mercer is an American former professional boxer, kickboxer, and mixed martial artist who competed from 1989 to 2009. Best known for his boxing career, Mercer won a heavyweight gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics as an amateur, and later held the WBO heavyweight title in 1991 as a professional, making one successful title defense against Tommy Morrison before vacating his championship. Though he fought and lost a controversial unanimous decision fight to former champion Evander Holyfield, he scored a notable unanimous decision win over two-time heavyweight champion Tim Witherspoon in 1996. Throughout his entire fighting career in the 1990s, Mercer never lost a fight to stoppage, a testament to his iron jaw and dangerous resilience as a boxer.
Antonio Deon Tarver is an American former professional boxer and boxing commentator. In boxing he competed from 1997 to 2015, and held multiple light heavyweight world championships, including the WBA (Unified), WBC, IBF and Ring magazine titles, as well as the IBO light heavyweight and cruiserweight titles.

He held world championships in two weight classes, including the WBC light heavyweight title from 2005 to 2007, and the IBF and The Ring magazine cruiserweight titles from 2008 to 2009. He also held the IBO cruiserweight title in 2007, and challenged once for the WBC heavyweight title in 2011. BoxRec ranks Adamek as the third greatest Polish boxer of all time, pound for pound. He is the first Polish boxer to win The Ring title.
Fres Oquendo is a Puerto Rican professional heavyweight boxer. He had a successful amateur record before turning professional in 1997. He unsuccessfully challenged three times for world heavyweight titles.
Dohonna Malik Scott is an American boxing trainer and former professional boxer who competed from 2000 to 2016.
Edward Chambers is an American former professional boxer. He challenged once for a unified world heavyweight title in 2010. He was ranked as the fourth best heavyweight in the world by The Ring at the conclusion of 2009. A defensively-oriented fighter, Chambers has been widely credited for his counterpunching skills and particularly praised for his hand speed and footwork. He has also been one of the first heavyweights with ability to switch between fighting orthodox and southpaw.
Kubrat Venkov Pulev is a Bulgarian professional boxer. He has challenged once for the IBF and the Ring magazine heavyweight titles in 2014, and once for the unified heavyweight title in 2020. He won the WBA International heavyweight title in 2024. At regional level, he has held multiple heavyweight championships, including the European title twice between 2012 and 2016. As an amateur, he won multiple medals at international tournaments, including gold at the 2008 European Championships and bronze at the 2005 World Championships, all in the super-heavyweight division. He also represented Bulgaria at the 2008 Olympics.
Vyacheslav Valeriyovych Glazkov is a Ukrainian former professional boxer who competed from 2009 to 2016. He challenged once for the vacant IBF heavyweight title in 2016, losing to Charles Martin due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The injury eventually forced him to retire from the sport.
Francesco Pianeta is an Italian former professional boxer who competed from 2005 to 2018. He challenged for the unified WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and The Ring heavyweight championship in 2013, the WBA (Regular) title in 2015, and in his final fight for the Lineal heavyweight championship in 2018. His 85-day reign as champion is the second-shortest in heavyweight boxing history, after Tony Tucker's 64 days in 1987. During Martin's short reign as IBF champion, he reached a peak active heavyweight ranking of ninth by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board. He was never featured in the top ten rankings of either BoxRec or The Ring.
