Dhangadhi Airport( IATA : DHI, ICAO : VNDH) is a domestic airport located in Dhangadhi serving Kailali District, a district in Sudurpashchim Province in Nepal. Dhangadhi Airport is also a regional airport which serves the district of Sudurpashchim Province and Rara Airport of Mugu district. Some commercial helicopters are operated from Dhangadhi Airport to Khaptad National Park.

History

The airport was opened in 1964. [2] In 2022, Nepal Airlines relaunched regional operations from Dhangadhi Airport making it the airline's western-most hub. [3]

Facilities

The airport is located at an elevation of 210 metres (689 ft) above mean sea level. It has one asphalted runway which is 1,800 metres (5,906 ft) in length. [1]

On 27 July 2000, de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter operated by Royal Nepal Airlines crashed in Nepal en route from Bajhang Airport to Dhangadhi Airport on a domestic passenger flight. The wreckage of the aircraft, registration 9N-ABP, was found in Jogbuda, Dadeldhura District. All 22 passengers and the three crew aboard were killed in the crash. An investigation into the crash was launched by Nepalese authorities after the accident site was located.

Doti Airport, also known as Silgadhi Airport, is a domestic airport located in Dipayal Silgadhi serving Doti District, a district in Sudurpashchim Province in Nepal.
