The oldest of the country's three international airports, and the hub of air services in the country, is Tribhuvan International Airport, which serves the nation's capital and the country's largest metropolitan city of Kathmandu. Gautam Buddha International Airport, situated at the birth-place of Gautam Buddha (i.e. Lumbini), is the second international airport to operate in Nepal. Pokhara International Airport, located at the heart of tourism in Pokhara city, is the third international airport to operate in Nepal.
Nijgadh International Airport at Nijgadh Simara and Sagarmatha Airport at Triyuga Udayapur are proposed for construction.

Nepalgunj Airport is a domestic airport serving Nepalgunj, in Banke District, a district in Lumbini Province in Nepal. There are plans by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal to promote the airport to an international airport and establishing immigration, customs and quarantine facilities.
Pokhara International Airport is an international airport in Pokhara, Gandaki Province, Nepal. It is located 3 km (1.9 mi) east of the old domestic airport, which it will gradually replace. The airport is Nepal's third international airport and officially began operations on 1 January 2023, with STOL-operations to Jomsom still being operated from the old airport. The airport is expected to handle up to one million passengers per year, but as of 2024 there have not been any regular international flights.
