Nalinchowk Heliport( IATA : n/a) is a heliport located in Bhaktapur, in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal [2] aimed at inheriting helicopter operations from Tribhuvan International Airport. [3]
In 2022, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal began construction of a new heliport within Kathmandu Valley to release congestion of traffic at Tribhuvan International Airport [4] with constructions beginning late 2023. [5] It opened in June 2024. [6] After its opening, it was critizied for lacking safety mechanisms such as an own control tower and refueling facilities. [7] [8] On 11 July, roughly two weeks after opening, operations were halted by pilots due to these concerns [9] Other news outlets claimed that operations were stopped due to a lack of demand. [10]
