Dipna Lim Prasad (born 7 June 1991 in Singapore) is a Singaporean sprinter and hurdler. [1] At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she competed in the Women's 100 metres hurdles. Dipna specialises in the 100 metres hurdles but also competes in the 100 metres, [2] 200 metres, [3] 400 metres hurdles, [4] 4x100 metres relay, [5] and 4 x 400 metres relay. [6]

Education

Dipna enrolled into the Singapore Sports School in 2004 as part of the pioneer batch. [7] She graduated in 2007 after completing her secondary school education. She holds a diploma in Sports and Exercise Science from Auckland University of Technology from which she graduated in 2009. Later, in 2010, Dipna furthered her education in Nanyang Technological University where she graduated in 2014 with a degree in Sport Science and Management.

Records

Dipna is the 400 metres hurdles national record holder. [8] At the 2013 Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar, she became the first Singaporean to run under 60 seconds for the 400 metre hurdles. [9]

From 2008–2014, Dipna held the 100 metre hurdles women's national record [10] [11] and Junior Record [12] for Singapore from 2008–2014. In 2013, Dipna broke Prema Govindan's 29-year-old national 200 metres national record. [13] Dipna has not run a 200-metre since, and her record has since been broken by Shanti Pereira. Pereira also broke Dipna's 400 metres record in 2024. [14]

Dipna has represented Singapore in the 2012 London Olympics; 2011 IAAF World Championships; 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships; several editions of the South East Asian Games; Asian Athletic Championships; and Asian Indoor Athletic Championships.

Personal life

Dipna married her boyfriend of six years, and fellow runner, Poh Seng Song in 2014. They have two children together. [9]

She is the 2013 European Indoor Champion in the 400 metres and won a 2012 World Indoor Championship gold medal in the 4 x 400 metres relay. She has also won silver and bronze medals in the 4 × 400 m relay at the World Championships.

Lucimar Teodoro is a Brazilian track and field athlete who specialises in the 400 metres sprint and the 400 metres hurdles.

Asami Chiba, or Tanno, is a Japanese sprinter who specialises in the 400 metres. She is the Japanese record holder in the event, and has also broken the national record in the 4×400 metres relay on multiple occasions. She is a member of Natureal Athlete Club in Japan and is coached by Kazuhisa Kawamoto.

Brenda Taylor is an American track and field athlete who specialises in the 400 meter hurdles. She reached the final of the event at the 2004 Summer Olympics. She also competed at the 2001 World Championships in Athletics and won a medal at the 2003 IAAF World Indoor Championships in the 4×400-meter relay.

Eilidh Doyle is a retired British track and field athlete. Originally running as Eilidh Child, she specialised in the 400 metres hurdles outdoors, and the 400 metres flat indoors, as well as the 4 x 400 metres relay on both surfaces. She represented Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, and won an Olympic bronze medal in the 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. Individually, she is the 2014 European Champion and a three-time Commonwealth silver medalist in the 400 metres hurdles.

Elma Muros-Posadas also known as the "Long Jump Queen" of the Philippines and a heptathlon champion, is a former member of the Philippine Track and Field National Team and now a legend in Philippine track and field history who specialized in long jump. She also competed in the heptathlon, 100m and 400m hurdles, 100m, 200m, and 400m sprint alongside the "Sprint Queen" of the Philippines and also fellow legend, Lydia de Vega. Elma is one of the foremost track and field athletes produced by the Philippines under the Marcos regime's National Sports Program, Gintong Alay, that was launched in 1979, but was eventually disbanded in 1986 after the ousting of Ferdinand Marcos and replaced by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) in 1990.

Chee Swee Lee is a Singaporean retired middle-distance runner who competed in the women's 800 metres at the 1976 Summer Olympics. She was the first Singaporean woman to clinch a gold in athletics at the Asian Games—achieved at the women's 400 metres in 1974—and remained the only one until Shanti Pereira's victory at the women's 200 metres in 2023.
