Television was introduced in Finland in 1955. Color television started in 1969 and was introduced gradually, with most programs in color by the late 1970s. All terrestrial analogue stations stopped broadcasting on 1 September 2007 after the introduction of digital television; cable providers were allowed to continue analog broadcasting in their networks until 1 March 2008.

The first chair of ERR is Margus Allikmaa, the former chair of Eesti Raadio. Present CEO is Erik Roose.
Alo TV is a local interactive television channel in Tartu, Estonia. It includes 24/7 music videos and news. On weekdays it also shows local information. The Alo TV broadcast area was formerly restricted to Tartu and Tartu County, but since 2009 the channel is included in Elion digital TV and Starman cable TV services. ETV is an Indian Telugu-language general entertainment pay television channel. The channel was launched on 27 August 1995 focusing on the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a part of the ETV Network owned by Ramoji Group. It is the second oldest Telugu satellite channel after Gemini TV. It is also one of the earliest private satellite channels in South India.

The Estonian broadcaster Eesti Rahvusringhääling (ERR) organised the national final Eurolaul 2008 in order to select the Estonian entry for the 2008 contest in Belgrade, Serbia. Ten songs competed in the national final and the winner was selected over two rounds of public voting. In the first round, the top three were selected to qualify to the superfinal. In the superfinal, "Leto svet" performed by Kreisiraadio was selected as the winner.
Digital terrestrial television in Estonia, was officially launched on 15 December 2006, when the operator Zuum TV launched its pay service on two multiplexes. Transmissions are made with MPEG-4 AVC compression using the DVB-T standard. A DVB-T2 standard-based network has been created for HD-quality TV picture transmission.

ETV+ is a Russian language free-to-air television channel operated by the Estonian Public Broadcasting. It was launched on 28 September 2015. The channel is aimed at Estonia's Russian-speaking minority airing both news and entertainment shows. The channel's budget in 2015 was 2.53 million euros.
ETV Andhra Pradesh is an Indian Telugu-language 24-hour news channel focusing on the state of Andhra Pradesh. The channel was launched by the media conglomerate ETV Network owned by Ramoji Group on 28 December 2003 as ETV2. Along with its rival TV9 Telugu, it is the oldest 24-hour news channel in Telugu. In May 2014, after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the channel was renamed as ETV Andhra Pradesh, while the then recently launched ETV3 channel was renamed as ETV Telangana.
