Ellon Rugby are a rugby union side based in Ellon, Aberdeenshire. [1]
The team was established in 1977 and play their home games at The Meadows. The club itself has a well established youth and junior section with players ranging from 4 to 18 years regularly playing rugby.
The club has recently rebranded itself as Ellon Rugby.

For the 2023/24 season, Ellon will compete in Caledonian Div 1. Under 18, Under 16 and Under 15 Youth sides will compete in the inspiresport Boy's National 2 Club Conference, while the Under 14 and Under 13 Youth sides compete in the Tier 1 North Club Conference.
Ellon Golden Oldies side were the 2017 hosts for the 9th Scottish Golden Oldies Festival held on 6 May 2017.
They won the BT Bowl in 2002 and reached the final of the BT Shield in 2006.

Pretty much a season to start rebuilding the squad with a number of departures after getting relegated from Div 1. More further away travel required than the 1XV had previously been used to with travel to Shetland and Stornoway.

With 12 teams entered into Caledonia Div 2 North, it was decided to split then into two leagues, East and West. Once each league played each other home and away, the top 3 of each will play each other for promotion and the bottom 3 of each will play each other for relegation. Any points earned from the other two from the original league were carried over. Ellon played in the East league the first half of the season.
Ellon eventually withdraw from the BT Bowl in the second round.

The Scottish Rugby Union is the governing body of rugby union in Scotland. Styled as Scottish Rugby, it is the second oldest Rugby Union, having been founded in 1873. The SRU oversees the national league system, known as the Scottish League Championship, and the Scottish National teams. The SRU is headed by the President and Chairman, with Mark Dodson acting as the Chief Executive Officer. Dee Bradbury became the first female president of a Tier 1 rugby nation upon her appointment on 4 August 2018.
Ayr Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club. Its professional men's side currently plays as Ayrshire Bulls in the Super 6 competition; and its women's side play in the Scottish Womens National One. The club also runs a "Club XV" which competes in the Tennent's National League 1, a 2nd XV "Ayr-Millbrae", which plays in the SRU West Reserve League Division 1, and various age group teams, from age 4, up to age 18.

Domestic club rugby union within Scotland remains a predominantly amateur sport; however, semi-professional and professional outfits have been created in recent decades to participate in cross-border competitions.
The Scottish Premiership is the highest level of amateur league competition for Scottish rugby union clubs. First held in 1973, it is the top division of the Scottish League Championship. The most recent (2023) champions are Hawick who are also the most successful club who have won the competition thirteen times.
The Scottish Regional Leagues are the lowest levels of the Scottish rugby union system. They consist of three regions:
University rugby union in Scotland is predominantly organised through BUCS, the British Universities Sports Association. Unlike in England and Wales, where a pyramid system of 4 regions and a Premier above exists, the Scottish system is separate. However, Scottish universities do receive places in the end of season knock-out tournaments which decide overall British champions. However, due to the small size of the divisions, some Scottish universities organise teams to play in regional or national leagues as part of the general Scottish league system for clubs, the Scottish League Championship. In addition, some universities organise University Saturday Leagues for their 2nd XV, or they organise informal friendly matches. Highland Rugby Football Club is a rugby union amateur club from the city of Inverness that compete in the Scottish National League Division One. They have a number of teams taken from different age groups including micros and minis, S1 and S2, Under-15, Under-16, Under-18 and senior first and second teams. They play their rugby at Canal park in Inverness.
Uddingston Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team, based in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The club's home is at Uddingston Cricket and Sports Club, Bothwell Castle Policies, Castle Avenue, Uddingston. G71 7HJ. In addition to Senior 1st and 2nd XV teams the club also has a thriving youth rugby section with players at every age group ranging from Primary 1 through to under-18. New for 2021 was the formation of our Women's team; The Selkies.
Gordonians RFC are a rugby union team based in Aberdeen, Scotland founded in 1923. They take their name from the fact that they were originally the former pupils club for Robert Gordon's College in the city.
The Scottish Cup is the annual knock-out cup competition for domestic rugby union clubs in Scotland. The cup has been competed for since the 1995–96 season. The competition was in abeyance between 2019 and 2022, initially due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and made its return in the 2022–23 season. Despite many structural changes the competition has always culminated with the final at Murrayfield Stadium.
The Scottish Inter-District Championship is a rugby union competition between regional sides in Scotland. Established in 1953, the tournament went through several formats.
Moray Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club from the city of Elgin, Moray that compete in the Caledonia North Two. Moray also have a 2xv that competes in the BT Caledonia 3 North League. Moray has a number of youth teams taken from different age groups including micros and minis, S1 and S2, Under-16, Under-18 team. They play their rugby at Morriston Park in Elgin, Moray.
The Women's domestic rugby union leagues in Scotland are organised in a similar vein to the men's domestic leagues: on a national basis for the top leagues and regional leagues below feeding into those leagues.
