The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Canberra (Indonesian : Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia di Canberra) is the diplomatic mission of Indonesia in Australia, which also doubles as the former's mission to Vanuatu. The current ambassador, Siswo Pramono, took office in October 2021.
Consulate Generals of Indonesia are also present in the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Darwin. [1]
Indonesia's first representative in Australia, Usman Sastroamidjojo, was assigned in June 1947 during the Indonesian National Revolution as "chief of the diplomatic and consular service for the Indonesian Republic". Initially located in Melbourne, the representation moved to Canberra in 1949, moving from Hotel Canberra to Deakin before permanently establishing itself in the current embassy location at Yarralumla in August 1971. The building itself had commenced construction since January 1970. The original building was designed by George Holland, and featured a display pavilion called "Wisma Wista Budaya". An additional office block was constructed between 1983 and 1984. A second display hall, named "Balai Kartini" after Kartini, was completed in 1986. [2] [3]
The embassy was targeted by a bioterrorism hoax in 2005 during the trial of Schapelle Corby. [4] In 2015, a week after the executions of Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, a HAZMAT team was called to the embassy due to presence of a suspicious package containing white powder. [5]
The 2005 Indonesian embassy bioterrorism hoax occurred when Indonesian ambassador to Australia Imron Cotan received a suspect letter addressed to him at the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra, Australia, on 1 June 2005. The suspect letter later turned out to be harmless.
The Embassy of Germany in Canberra is Germany’s diplomatic mission to Australia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Nauru. The current German ambassador, Beate Grzeski, has been in office since September 2023. She and her team take care of the bilateral relationship between Germany and Australia, which includes the political, economic, cultural, military as well as scientific and press fields.
The Embassy of Finland to the Commonwealth of Australia is Finland's diplomatic mission in Canberra, Australia. The mission is also accredited to New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands. As it is the only Finnish Embassy in the Southern Pacific region (Oceania), in practice the embassy also represents Finland in its relations with other Pacific island states in the region.
Foreign relations exist between Australia and Switzerland. Switzerland opened a consulate in Sydney in 1855 and one in Melbourne in 1856. Both countries established diplomatic relations in 1961. Switzerland has an embassy in Canberra, a consulate-general in Sydney and 6 honorary consulates in Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne and Perth. In November 2022, Australia opened an embassy in Bern and maintains a consulate-general in Geneva.
Foreign relations exist between Australia and Estonia. Australia first recognised Estonia on 22 September 1921. Australia was among the first countries to re-recognise Estonia's independence on 27 August 1991. Both countries re-established diplomatic relations on 21 November 1991.
Foreign relations are present between Australia and Finland. Diplomatic relations were established on 31 May 1949. Australia is represented in Finland through its embassy in Stockholm, Sweden, and through an honorary consulate in Helsinki. Finland has had an embassy in Canberra since 1978, alongside honorary consulate generals in Melbourne and Perth, honorary consulates in Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart, and Sydney, and an honorary vice-consulate in Cairns.

The Embassy of Greece in Canberra is the main diplomatic mission of the Hellenic Republic in Australia, and residence of the Greek Ambassador to Australia; it is currently located in the suburb of Yarralumla, a suburb in which most of Canberra's embassies are found.
The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur is the diplomatic mission of Indonesia in Malaysia. The embassy serves large amounts of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia. Other Indonesian diplomatic establishments in Malaysia include four consulate-generals in Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu (Sabah), Kuching (Serawak), and Penang, and a consulate in Tawau.

The Embassy of the Philippines in Canberra is the diplomatic mission of the Republic of the Philippines to the Commonwealth of Australia. It is currently located at 1 Moonah Place in the Yarralumla suburb of south Canberra, just beyond the periphery of Parliament House.
The Embassy of Sweden in Canberra is Sweden's diplomatic mission in Australia. The embassy opened in 1947 and has been located in Canberra since 1951. The ambassador since 2022 is Pontus Melander.
