Expeditie Robinson: Battle of the Titans

Last updated

Expeditie Robinson: Strijd der Titanen (also known as Expeditie Robinson: Battle of the Titans), was a special All-Stars season of the Dutch/Belgian version of the Swedish show Expedition Robinson, or Survivor as it is referred to in some countries. This season began airing in March 2006 and concluded in July of that year. This season began with a surprise "plank" challenge in which the winner would automatically be immune from the first elimination and would be one of two contestants to be "leaders" of a tribe. As the winner of this challenge Ilona van der Laan, along with Veronique De Pryker, who Ilona picked as the person she got along with the least, picked their tribes from the fifteen other contestants. The last person not picked, Björn Lemeirel, was eliminated from the game. Another twist occurred in episode four when each tribe was asked to pick one player that they trusted the most. The North team chose Melvin Pigot, while the South team chose Richard Mackowia. These two contestants were both sent to a secret island called Entatula where the merge tribe of Panga would live. Eventually those living on the island had chosen all but Fleur Roozenburg, Lydia Guiso, Maxime Verbist, Ryan van Esch, and Veronique De Pryker to join them, they composed the Miniloc tribe and were forced to take part in a series of duels until only one remained and would return to the game. When it came time for the final four, the contestants took part in a couple of final challenges in order to determine who would be the finalists. The first of these challenges was won by Jennifer Smit while the second was won by Ryan van Esch. Ultimately, it was Ryan van Esch who won this season over Jennifer Smit by a jury vote of 4-2.

Two more players were fake eliminated in episode one when both tribe leaders were told that they had to choose one member of their tribe to eliminate. In episode 3, Peder was fake eliminated in a duel against Kristoffer. Following the duel Kristoffer swapped tribes. The final two members of Team X joined when in episode 4 Team X competed in a challenge against North team and South team. From episode 5 until the merge, South team and Team X competed in challenges against each other. Following the merge, Peder was ejected from the game for faking an injury. As the game progressed, the original South team members began to pick off what was left of Team X until only South team members remained in the game. As the only member of their gender on their respective tribes, Björn Lemeire and Fatima Aboulouafa were made leaders of their tribes and given immunity at their tribes first tribal council. A shocking discovery was made in episode 4 when Fatima was forced to leave the competition as it had been discovered that she was four months pregnant. In the same episode a tribal swap took place in which Giovani Oosters and Judge Chambliss from the Pantai tribe and Jutta Borms and Karen Vanautgaerden swapped tribes. In episode 7, the two tribes merged into a new tribe called Kelapa. Another twist occurred in episode 7 when following the merge and Karen's elimination, she was told that instead of just being eliminated all eliminated from then on would face off at "Devils Island", where they would take part in a series of duels. The winner of the final duel would then re-enter the game at the final three. The winner of the final duel was Ilona Laan. Throughout the competition many contestants living in the Mangrove were given opportunities to re-enter the game, however it was not until episode 9, when the contestants living in the Mangrove won a challenge against the merge tribe, known as Teluk, in order to re-enter the game. Another twist that occurred this season was that of a tribal swap which took place in episode 4. Following the Mangrove contestants return to the game, a power struggle ensued between the Belgian and Dutch contestants. The season began airing on September 5, 2005, and concluded on November 28, 2005. The major twist this season was that the tribes were initially divided up by the participants' ages. The Jong (Young) tribe was composed of the contestants age 30 and under and the Oud (Old) tribe was composed of contestants over the age of 40. Unbeknownst to the original tribes, there was a secret third tribe that consisted of two contestants, Esther Jacobs and Marnix Allegaert, who were in their 30s, who lived in an area known as "Secret Island". These two contestants were soon joined by Douwe Popma, who had been voted out immediately after a challenge. In episode 4, the two original teams were dismantled and the remaining players were mixed up into new tribes known as the North and South teams. With these new tribes, all who had previously been living on the Secret island joined one of the two new tribes in the game and Nicole Hendriks, who had been eliminated in the previous episode, re-entered the game as a replacement for the large number of contestants who had left the game. Along with the new tribes came tribal leaders, who were elected in each episode and were immune at tribal council.

Though the main twist may have seemed like a repeat of twists that occurred in previous seasons, unlike previous seasons with a similar twist this season male contestants were from Belgium and all females from the Netherlands. While the All-Star contestants weren't eligible to win, they could vote and following a tribal swap in episode 4, they could give any contestant on their tribe immunity at tribal council. Following the merge in episode 8, the twist that was "Losers Island", was introduced to the game. After a contestant was eliminated they would be sent to Losers island where they would wait until there were only two contestants left in the game at which point the six contestants on the island would vote for one of their own to return. When it came time to vote for a winner, the public, instead of a jury decided the winner. In the end, it was Olga Urashova who returned from Losers island in the final three, who won the season over Lenny Janssen with a public vote of 52% to Lenny's 48%.

Robinsonekspedisjonen: 2010, is the tenth season of the Norwegian version of the Swedish show Expedition Robinson and it premiered on September 12, 2010. In episode 3, Kristine Ditlefsen, Jeanetter Elstad, Cecilie Heramb, and Tone Olsen all entered the game as jokers with two of each joining one of the two teams. The game changed again in episode 5 when the teams were dissolved and two new teams were formed based on gender. In a twist, in episode 6 Kim Cesar, Synnøve Kalleklev, Lisbeth Larsen, and Bjørnar Rødal entered the game as members of the newly formed west team. Along with this, in episode 6 the contestants temporarily returned to their original teams. However, following a duel in the same episode between David Sandem and Jeanette Elstad, in which Jeanette was eliminated, the two teams merged. Shoretly after the merge took place the remaining contestants were evacuated from the island for about ten days due to a bird flu break out. In episode 7, the west competed in an individual immunity challenge. After the challenge, Kim was eliminated by the winner of the challenge Bjørnar. Following this, Bjørnar along with Lisbeth and Synnøve joined the merge tribe. In episode 12, Atle Hansen and Synnøve competed in a duel against each other in which Synnøve was eliminated and Atle received reward. In the final episode of the season, the four semi-finalists initially competed in the plank competition. Following the challenge Tone was voted out of the game by the winner and first finalist Alita Kristensen. Then the two remaining losers of the first competition, Atle and Stian Schie, competed in a final duel. Stian won and became the second finalist. Eventually, Alita Dagmar Kristensen won the season over Stian Schie by a jury vote of 8-3, becoming the first contestant to have begun the competition on the North team to win since 2004.

Robinson Ekspeditionen 2010 was the thirteenth season of the Danish version of the Swedish show Expedition Robinson. This season premiered on September 6, 2010. The major twist this season is that the contestants have been divided into tribes with half of each tribe being "Masters" and the other half being "Slaves". The contestants individual statuses were determined in a challenge they took part in before they were divided into tribes. The twelve members of each gender competed in a challenge against each other with the five winners being the masters of their tribe and each getting to pick one of the seven challenge losers from the other tribe as their slave. Through the slave selection process four contestants, Anja Balle, Gitte Behrendt, Vincent Muir, and Hector Nielsen, were eliminated and sent to "Utopia" to compete against each other as well as future eliminated contestants in order to earn a spot back in the game. Following the elimination, the "Tenga" and "Minang" tribes were formed with the Minang tribe being composed of the female winners and their slaves and the Tenga tribe of the male winners and their slaves. In episode 2, a tribal swap took place in which most of the contestants swapped tribes. In episode 3, no elimination took place due to Ali Ghiace's voluntary exit. Also in episode 3, it was revealed that, like last year, there is a mole competing in the game. With this news came that of the mole being the only person eligible to vote for two people at the third tribal council. In episode 5, both tribes competed in an elimination competition which would lead to players from each tribe being eliminated. Ultimately, it Maiken Andersen and Bjørn Lambertsen from Minang and Ann Applegren from Tenga who lost the challenge and were eliminated and sent to Utopia. In episode 9, the two tribes merged and five contestants from Utopia returned to the game. In episode 10, Germaine lost a challenge and was eliminated. In episode 11, Anja and Reda were sent to Utopia where Anja lost a duel and was eliminated. In episode 13, all Utopia contestants competed in a duel which Hans "HC" Nørager lost and was eliminated. In episode 14, the recently voted out Gitte Benherdt along with all of the remaining Utopia residents competed in the final duel of the season for a spot in the final four. Ultimately, Hans Ravnholt won the duel while the others were eliminated in the following order, Gitte Behrendt, Diana Andersen, Jens Bach, Mette Egeberg, Henriette Nielsen, Hector Nielsen, and finally Jakob Jensen. During the pre-merge portion of the program both teams proved strong as each won three of the immunity challenges. When the tribes merged the members of the North team stuck together while those of the South team initially did not. Starting with the seventh tribal council the twist of the "black vote" came into play. The black vote gave a person voted out at one tribal council to cast a vote at the next. Ultimately, the alliance of Anna, Dávid, Miklós, and Péter proved dominant in the later stages of the game as it picked off those that were not in it while only suffering one pre-final four casualty of its own. When it came time for the final four the contestants took part in two challenges to determine the final two. Viki and Miklós lost these challenges and were eliminated. Despite the fact that there was a jury this year, they were deadlocked in there vote and ultimately it was Dávid Hankó who won this season after receiving 52.56% of the public vote to Anna's 47.44%.

However, in this season, the winner of the duel has their tribe exempt from participating in the immunity challenge and therefore, safe from tribal council. The loser of the duel is sent home and has to have their tribe compete in the immunity challenge against the tribe that finished second.
