The Family Computer Emulator was one of the first Famicom emulators. The development started in the early 1990s. [3]
It was made by Haruhisa Udagawa(宇田川 治久), [3] a developer at Namco, Sonic Team and KAZe. [4] He also worked on twelve games from the 1980s to the early 2000s. [4]
The emulator was simple, but it was able to run games such as Donkey Kong. [3] The ROM files had to be dumped through a complicated process.
Udagawa only tested a few games on his Famicom Emulator, those games being:
The emulator could not do sound emulation, [1] and did not support the Famicom's microphone. The ROM had to be 256 kilobits, and the Graphics Tile Data file had to be 64 kilobits. (They had their own memory space. This was before the iNES format was created). [1] Sprites had to be 8 pixels by 8 pixels [1]

A ROM image, or ROM file, is a computer file which contains a copy of the data from a read-only memory chip, often from a video game cartridge, or used to contain a computer's firmware, or from an arcade game's main board. Released on April 3, 1997, the widely popular program originally ran under MS-DOS and Windows 95. Initially offering few features and only supporting a handful of games, development proceeded rapidly and to expand usability such that NESticle is today credited with introducing the concept of recordable playthrough for emulation, as well as providing the capacity for users to create their own graphical hacks via an integrated graphics editor. In pioneering this heightened level of access for users, and providing the tools for fans to hack and remix familiar classics, NESticle has been credited by Spin as representing a milestone toward the development of video game music as a genre.
The Nintendo VS. System is an arcade system developed and produced by Nintendo from 1984 to 1990. It is based on most of the same hardware as the Family Computer (Famicom), later released as the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Most of its games are conversions from the Famicom and NES, some heavily altered for the arcade format, and some debuted on the VS. System before being released on the Famicom or NES. The system focuses on two-player cooperative play. It was released in three different configurations: upright VS. UniSystem cabinets, upright VS. DualSystem cabinets, and sit-down VS. DualSystem cabinets. Games are on pluggable circuit boards, allowing for each side to have a different game.
Donkey Kong is a 1981 arcade video game developed and published by Nintendo. As Mario, the player runs and jumps on platforms and climbs ladders to ascend a construction site and rescue Pauline from a giant gorilla, Donkey Kong. It is the first game in the Donkey Kong series as well as Mario's first appearance in a video game.
