Shelby County is the westernmost county in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 929,744. It is the largest of the state's 95 counties, both in terms of population and geographic area. Its county seat is Memphis, a port on the Mississippi River and the second most populous city in Tennessee. The county was named for Governor Isaac Shelby (1750–1826) of Kentucky. It is one of only two remaining counties in Tennessee with a majority African American population, along with Haywood County.

With a population of 51,324 in the 2020 census, Collierville is the third largest municipality in the county after Memphis and Bartlett. It is home to the Carriage Crossing shopping mall and is served by Collierville Schools.
Millington is a city in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States, and is a part of the Memphis metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 10,176. Millington was granted the title "Flag City Tennessee" by the Tennessee State Legislature. The Naval Support Activity Mid-South is located at the former Memphis Naval Air Station, whose function was changed in 1993 from a training base to an administrative one. There is also a general aviation airport that features the third longest runway in Tennessee.
Marvin Eugene Throneberry was an American Major League Baseball player. Affectionately known as "Marvelous Marv", he was the starting first baseman for the 1962 New York Mets, a team which set the modern record for most losses in a season with 120. Throneberry became a well known figure after appearing in numerous Miller Lite beer commercials in the 1970s and 1980s.
Siluria is a former town and now a neighborhood in Alabaster, Alabama, located in Shelby County, Alabama in the Birmingham, Alabama, metropolitan area. It was the home of a large cotton mill and company-built mill village which began operations in 1896 and finally closed in 1979. It was incorporated on 25 May 1954, but was later annexed by Alabaster in May 1971. It is named for the Silurian geological period because of rocks found there. A post office was established in 1872, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1972.
Frayser is a neighborhood on the northside of Memphis, Tennessee, United States. It is named after Memphis physician Dr. J Frayser, who owned a summer home near the railroad. Frayser's boundaries are the Wolf River to the south, the Mississippi River to the west, the Loosahatchie River to the north, and ICRR tracks to the east. The population of Frayser is 45,000.

Collierville High School is a public high school located in Collierville, Tennessee which operates under the administration of Collierville Schools. It was previously under the authority of Shelby County Schools until Collierville Schools splintered from it in 2014. Its school colors are maroon and white—formerly black and gold—and its mascot is the dragon, originally designed by elementary art teacher Lisa Ackerman as "Blister the Dragon".

A native of Fisherville, Tennessee, he was a backup outfielder in Major League Baseball who played for the Boston Red Sox, Washington Senators (1957–60) and Los Angeles Angels (1961). Throneberry batted left-handed, threw right-handed, and was listed as 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 m) tall and 185 pounds (84 kg). He was the older brother of Marv Throneberry.

Eads is an unincorporated community in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States, named after Civil War engineer James Buchanan Eads. Some parts of Eads have been annexed by the city of Memphis. Some of its area is currently still unincorporated. Eads is located north of Collierville, west of Somerville, east of Memphis and Bartlett. The Eads zip code (38028) stretches into both Shelby County and Fayette County, including parts of Hickory Withe and Fisherville. The Nonconnah Creek is a 29.7-mile-long (47.8 km) waterway in southwest Tennessee. It starts in extreme southeastern Shelby County, Tennessee, near the town of Collierville. From there, it flows westward, forming the southern border of Germantown. The creek continues to flow west through Memphis and through Whitehaven. Nonconnah Creek empties into McKellar Lake, an oxbow of the Mississippi River. There are three major expressways that follow most of its route. These are Interstate 55, Interstate 240, and Tennessee State Route 385, formerly named and still locally referred to as "Nonconnah Parkway".
Kirby High School(KHS) is a public high school in the Hickory Hill community of Memphis, Tennessee, United States, and is a part of the Shelby County Schools district. KHS was established in 1980 as part of the Shelby County School System, serving students from grades 7 to 10, subtracting and adding grades until the first graduating class left KHS at the end of the 1982-83 school year. It later became a Memphis City School campus, after Memphis annexed Hickory Hill in 1999.

Since the area is a part of Shelby County, it sits unincorporated on the southeast boundary of the Memphis city limits, in the Memphis annexation reserve area. The area's boundaries are one section of the 38125 zip code bounded by Winchester Road, Germantown, and Hacks Cross Road and include the PGA Tour Southwind golf course - TPC Southwind, home of The World Golf Championship. According to the 2010 census, the Southwind area population was 36,150, with 75% African American, 4% Asian, 15% Non-Hispanic White, and 6% Hispanic. The majority of households with children residing in them had both a father and mother in the home. For families in Southwind the median income was $72,587 and the mean income was $85,975.
