FXEC, established in 2000 is now an Autonomous, NBA Accredited, DST-FIST Supported Institution run by St. Xavier’s Educational Trust with the vision of empowering the budding engineers with technical and entrepreneurial skill enabling them to contribute to the socio-economic augmentation of the nation. The college offers 8 UG Programmes,7 PG Programmes and Doctoral Programmes in EEE, ECE, CSE & IT.

The College holds the privileges of Section 2 (f) and 12(B) of UGC Act 1956. The College is ranked in the Band "EXCELLENT" by ARIIA, Ministry of Education (MoE) Govt. of India and FXEC is now one of the top 96 Institutions in India. The college is awarded with the topmost 4 star rating by MoE's Innovation Cell for building the culture of Innovation and Entrepreneurship among the students. The college is awarded with PLATINUM Rating by AICTE-CII Survey of Industry Linked Technical Institutions.

The college has exclusive and high performance computing lab for R&D activities. More than Rs.3.5+ Crore research funding has been received from different Government Agencies like DST, AICTE, MNRE, ISRO, DRDO. The college offers International Certification programmes in Collaboration with CISCO, AUTO DESK, National Instruments, EMC2 and Oracle Academy. The college has active MoU with IBM, CDAC, HCL, Sutherland, ICT Academy, Fanuc, Texas Instruments, Trimetric Solutions, CADD Centre, Highway Authority of India and similar leading companies. It is a member of CII, BAI, FACEAT&P, BNI, YI, CSI, IE, ISTE, IEEE for Industry-Institute Interaction, Centre of Excellence for Big Data Analytics, Cyber Forensics and Cloud Computing. Further, funds have been received under STTP, PRERANA, SAMRIDHI schemes. The college is also a Mentor Institution for 11 Institutions under AICTE-Margdarshan Scheme. The College aims at developing high quality research, innovation, start-up ecosystem and entrepreneurship.
