Saginaw County, officially the County of Saginaw, is a county located in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 190,124. The county seat is Saginaw. The county was created by September 10, 1822, and was fully organized on February 9, 1835. The etymology of the county's name is uncertain. It may be derived from Sace-nong or Sak-e-nong, as the Sauk tribe is believed by some to have once lived there. A more likely possibility is that it comes from Ojibwe words meaning "place of the outlet" –sag and ong. See List of Michigan county name etymologies.
Buena Vista is an unincorporated community within Buena Vista Charter Township, Saginaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The U.S. Census Bureau has defined a census-designated place (CDP) with the same name for statistical purposes. The CDP has no official status as a municipality and the boundaries defined by the Census Bureau may not precisely correspond to local understanding of the Buena Vista area. The CDP consists of an area adjacent to the city of Saginaw on its east side and mostly east of Interstate 75. The population was 7,845 at the 2000 census.
Buena Vista Charter Township is a charter township of Saginaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The 2010 Census placed the population at 8,676. This is a 15.9% decrease compared to the 2000 Census population recording of 10,318.
Frankenmuth is a city in Saginaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,944 at the 2010 census. The city is surrounded by Frankenmuth Township. Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, which bills itself as "the World's Largest Christmas Store", is located in Frankenmuth.

Swan Valley High School is a public high school located in Thomas Township, Michigan and part of the Swan Valley School District. They are part of the Tri-Valley Central Conference. Swan Valley has been part of the Mid-Michigan B, TVC East, TVC West, and the TVC Central conferences since its start in 1971. Swan Valley's original mascot was the Panthers which soon changed to the Vikings. When the new high school was built the mascot needed to be changed because there was already a high school in the area that were panthers. The sports teams of Swan Valley were then divided up between the Vikings and the Valkyries to show individual support for both male and female teams. Later the sports teams were simply called the Vikings and the Lady Vikes.

Buena Vista School District was a school district headquartered in Buena Vista Charter Township, Michigan, and part of the Saginaw Intermediate School District. As of July 2013, the school district closed and became a tax-collecting district of the Saginaw ISD to pay the district's outstanding debts.

Freeland Community School District is a school district headquartered in Freeland, Michigan in northwest Saginaw County. It is a part of the Saginaw Intermediate School District and serves the Freeland area, including Tittabawassee Township, the northern portion of Thomas Township, and the westernmost sections of Kochville Township. Its schools include Freeland Learning Center, Freeland Elementary School, Freeland Middle School, and Freeland High School. For the 2017–2018 school year, there were 1,969 students attending Freeland Schools.
Buena Vista High School was a public high school located at 3945 East Holland in Buena Vista Charter Township, Michigan and was part of the former Buena Vista School District. The school was closed when the Buena Vista School District was dissolved in July 2013. Buena Vista's mascot was the Knights, and its colors were blue and white. The school's athletic program competed in the Greater Thumb Conference as a Class C, and later in the Highland Conference as a Class D school.
The Wolverine Secure Treatment Center (WSTC) is a private juvenile detention facility and charter school located at 2424 North Outer Drive in Buena Vista Township, Michigan, United States. The facility is owned and operated by Wolverine Human Services, and is a part of the Saginaw Intermediate School District.
The Saginaw-Midland-Bay City Combined Statistical Area is a United States metropolitan area defined by the federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) surrounding the Saginaw Bay and Saginaw River. The region is a part of the larger area known as Mid/Central Michigan. It includes the smaller statistical areas of Saginaw, Midland, and Bay City.
