It was founded during the COVID-19 pandemic in Denmark by prominent promoter of misinformation Fleming Blicher, and promotes refusal of government public health regulations, such as face masks and vaccines. The group was on the ballot in 26 municipalities and all 5 regions of Denmark in the 2021 Danish local elections, but did not win any seats. [2]

Background

The group was founded by Flemming Blicher, who had previously been behind several COVID-19 denialist demonstrations and demonstrations against the government's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Denmark. [3]

The group describes itself as a collection of individuals, with localists and regionalist focuses, allowing the members of the group to express their own opinions regardless of what the rest of the group might think. [4] The focus for several of the group's members are to fight the government's regulations regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in Denmark. [5] [6]

In the 2021 municipal election, several of the parties candidates in Copenhagen did not have a box next to their name to check off in order to vote for them. The party made official complaints in hopes of issuing a re-election but in avail. [7]

2020 Danish mink cull Government-mandated slaughter of mink

The 2020 Danish mink cull, commonly known as the Mink Case or Minkgate, was the government-mandated slaughter of all roughly 17 million mink that were being raised on farms for their fur in Denmark. The cull was in response to the detection of Cluster 5, an outbreak of a novel variant of SARS-CoV-2 in the mink, during the COVID-19 pandemic in Denmark. The cluster led to concerns that the potential of spillover to humans could reduce the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines. The cull began on 4 November 2020. It later became clear that the cull orders had been given without legal authority, causing a political scandal.
