The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) is the governing body of the men's professional tennis circuits – the ATP Tour, the ATP Challenger Tour and the ATP Champions Tour. It was formed in September 1972 by Donald Dell, Jack Kramer, and Cliff Drysdale to protect the interests of professional tennis players, and Drysdale became the first president. Since 1990 the association has organized the ATP Tour, the worldwide tennis tour for men and linked the title of the tour with the organization's name. It is the governing body of men's professional tennis. In 1990 the organization was called the ATP Tour, which was renamed in 2001 as just ATP and the tour being called ATP Tour. In 2009 the name of the tour was changed again and was known as the ATP World Tour, but changed again to the ATP Tour by 2019. The Sarasota Open is a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor green clay courts. It is currently part of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Challenger Tour. From 2022, the event is held at the Payne Park Tennis Center in Sarasota, Florida, United States. It has been held at the United Tennis Center in Bradenton, Florida in its inaugural event in 2008 and in 2017. Other locations were Lakewood Ranch (2015–2016) and Longboat Key (2009–2014). An expected move to Bath and Racquet Athletic Club near Bee Ridge and U.S. 41 fell through as the tournament was moved to United Tennis Center in 2017. After 2 years off due to the COVID-19 and owners changing, the Sarasota Open announced a comeback in 2022. The 2011 Aegon GB Pro-Series Bath was a professional tennis tournament played on hard courts. It was the first edition of the tournament which was part of the 2011 ATP Challenger Tour and the 2011 ITF Women's Circuit. It took place in Bath, Great Britain between 21 and 27 March 2011.

The 2011 ATP Challenger Tour Finals was a tennis tournament played at the Ginásio do Ibirapuera in São Paulo, Brazil, between November 16 and November 20, 2011. It was the first edition of the event. The tournament was run by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and was part of the 2011 ATP Challenger Tour. The event took place on indoor hard courts. It served as the season ending championships for players on the ATP Challenger Tour. The seven best players of the season and a wild card awardee qualified for the event and were split into two groups of four. During this stage, players competed in a round robin format. The two players with the best results in each group progressed to the semifinals where the winners of a group faced the runners-up of the other group. This stage, however, was a knock out stage.

The Virginia Slims Clay Court Championships, also known as the Virginia Slims of Chicago, was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts at the Lake Bluff Bath & Tennis Club in Chicago, Illinois in the United States that was part of the 1971 WT Pro Tour. It was the inaugural edition of the tournament and was held from August 19 through August 22, 1971. Third-seeded Françoise Dürr won the singles title and earned $4,100 first-prize money.
