Galdakao is a town and municipality located in the province of Biscay, in the Basque Country.

It is located in the Greater Bilbao, in the valley of the Ibaizabal river, near the Ganguren mountain range. It is surrounded by some summits such as Arrezurriaga (329 m), Txispamendi (221 m) and Santa María (476 m) in the north and Upo (556 m) and Mandoia (640 m) in the south.

It is coterminous with Zamudio, Lezama and Larrabetzu in the north, with Zaratamo and Zeberio in the south, with Amorebieta, Lemona and Bedia in the east and with Etxebarri and Basauri in the west.

The Bilbao metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Bilbao and the region of Greater Bilbao. Lines 1 and 2 have a "Y" shape, as they transit both banks of the river Ibaizabal and then combine to form one line that ends in the south of Bilbao. Line 3 has a "V" shape connecting the municipality of Etxebarri with the Bilbao neighbourhood of Matiko; the apex of the "V" is Zazpikaleak/Casco Viejo station, where all three current lines meet. The metro is connected with the Bilbao tram, Bilboko Aldiriak, Euskotren Trena, Feve, Renfe long-distance trains, and Bilbao's bus station. All three lines use metre gauge.

Hego Uribe is a modern conventional subdivision of Biscay, Basque Country. Located within the comarca of Greater Bilbao, directly south of the city of Bilbao itself, the area includes the towns of Basauri, Galdakao, Etxebarri and Arrigorriaga, among others. Iker Flores Galarza is a Spanish former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally between 1999 and 2007 for the Euskaltel–Euskadi and Fuerteventura–Canarias teams. He took the overall victory at the Tour de l'Avenir, along with one stage, in 2000. However, Flores did not add any professional victories, and finished the 2005 Tour de France as Lanterne Rouge, as did his brother Igor Flores in 2002. Flores was known for his attacking style of riding.

Usansolo is an independent municipality located to the east of Galdakao (Biscay) in Spain, 2 km from the centre of the neighbouring town. With few baserris, its population began rising after the railway station was built in the 19th century, when flats started being built. It has 4570 inhabitants as of 2023. Due to its distance from the center of Galdakao, proposals to make it an independent town gathered momentum, until its independence was confirmed on 28th December, 2023. Usansolo is home to a Bridgestone tire cord plant.

The Abando Indalecio Prieto railway station, usually known simply as Bilbao-Abando and previously known as Estación del Norte is a terminal railway station in Bilbao, Basque Country (Spain). The name comes from Abando, the district in which the station is located, and Indalecio Prieto, who was Minister of Public Works during the Second Spanish Republic. The station serves as the terminus station for several long and medium distance services operated by Renfe as well as commuter rail services within the Bilbao metropolitan area operated by Cercanías. The station has direct access to Metro Bilbao and to the tram, as well as many local and regional bus lines. The railway station Bilbao-Concordia, operated by Renfe Feve is located in close proximity. After the construction of the high-speed line Basque Y is finished, Bilbao-Abando will serve as the western terminus, which will involve the creation of a completely new station replacing the current one.
