The Basque Auxiliary Navy was a section of the Spanish Republican Navy operating in the Bay of Biscay between 1936 and 1937. The naval force began their operations in October 1936 at the behest of the autonomous Basque Government. The main Basque Navy base was at Portugalete.

Ricardo Bastida was a Basque architect who was instrumental behind many important buildings in Bilbao and Madrid. In 1923 he proposed a plan of extension of Bilbao to the mouth of Abra, a visionary project that would result in the current metropolitan area.
Club Deportivo Aurrerá Ondarroa is a Spanish football team based in Ondarroa, in the autonomous community of Basque Country. Founded in 1921, it plays in Tercera Federación – Group 4, holding home matches at Zaldupe.
