Gastouni (Greek : Γαστούνη) is a town and a former municipality in Elis, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Pineios, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. [2] The municipal unit has an area of 59.325 km2. [3] Gastouni is situated in a flat rural area, 5 km from the Ionian Sea. The river Pineios flows into the sea near Gastouni. The town is 6 km (4 mi) south of Andravida, 4 km (2 mi) east of Vartholomio, 11 km (7 mi) northwest of Amaliada and 26 km (16 mi) northwest of Pyrgos. The Greek National Road 9/E55 (Patras - Pyrgos) and the railway from Patras to Pyrgos pass east of Gastouni. There is a 12th-century Byzantine church in the southwestern quarter Katholiki. [4]

Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Andravida-Kyllini, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 94.567 km2. It is situated 39 km north of the city of Pyrgos, and 60 km southwest of Patras.

The municipal unit has an area of 49.322 km2. The population was 3,272 in 2021. The municipality Kastro-Kyllini was created in 1999 as part of the Kapodistrias reform from the formerly independent communities Kyllini, Kato Panagia, Kastro and Neochori, that became municipal districts. After the 2011 Kallikratis reform, these municipal districts became (dependent) communities. Its seat of administration was the small port town of Kyllini.
Amaliada is a town and a former municipality in northwestern Elis, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Ilida, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 251.945 km2. It is near the archaeological site of Elis, the city-state whose territory was the site of the ancient Olympic Games. It is situated in the plains of Elis, 6 km from the Ionian Sea. It is 10 km southeast of Gastouni, 16 km northwest of Pyrgos and 60 km southwest of Patras.

The town Vartholomio is in the plains, on the right bank of the river Pineios, which flows into the Ionian Sea south of the town.

The population of the town Pyrgos is 26,052, and of the municipality 45,365 (2021). Pyrgos is 16 km (10 mi) west of Olympia, 16 km (10 mi) southeast of Amaliada, 70 km (43 mi) southwest of Patras and 85 km (53 mi) west of Tripoli.
Kavasila is a village in the municipal unit of Gastouni, Elis, Greece. Its population is around 1,200. It is situated in a flat rural area, on the right bank of the river Pineios, at about 20 metres (66 ft) elevation. It is 1 kilometre (0.6 mi) northwest of Lefkochori, 2 kilometres (1 mi) east of Kardiakafti, 3 kilometres (2 mi) south of Andravida and 3 kilometres (2 mi) northeast of Gastouni. Kavasila had a train station on the line from Patras to Kalamata via Pyrgos. A branch line to Vartholomio and Kyllini was shut down around 2001. The Greek National Road 9 passes east of the village.
Savalia is a village in the municipal unit of Amaliada, Elis, southern Greece. It is in the plains near the Ionian Sea, 1 km (0.62 mi) northwest of Roviata, 2 km (1.2 mi) southwest of Ampelokampos, 3 km (1.9 mi) east of Palaiochori, 5 km (3.1 mi) southeast of Gastouni, and 5 km (3.1 mi) northwest of Amaliada. The Greek National Road 9 (Patras–Pyrgos) passes southwest of the village. The railway from Patras to Pyrgos passes northeast of the village.
Larissos is a former municipality in Achaea, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality West Achaea, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 225.729 km2. Its seat of administration was in the village Lappas, part of the community Metochi. The municipal unit was named after the river Larissos, which flows through it. It is the westernmost municipal unit of Achaea, stretching along the Ionian Sea coast and the border with Elis to the southern part of the Movri hills. It is about 32 km southwest of Patras is 37and 50 km north of Pyrgos.

Skillounta is a former municipality in Elis, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Andritsaina-Krestena, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 194.409 km2. It is named after the ancient town Scillus, which was in the area. Its seat of administration was in the town Krestena. The territory of the municipal unit Skillounta stretches from the plains on the Ionian Sea coast to the forested mountains of southeastern Elis. The river Alfeios forms its northern border. Krestena is 6 km south of Olympia, 12 km north of Zacharo and 18 km southeast of Pyrgos. The Greek National Road 9/E55 passes through Kallikomo in the western part of Skillounta, and the Greek National Road 76 to Andritsaina and Megalopoli runs west to east through Krestena and Graikas.
Pineia is a former municipality in Elis, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Ilida, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 148.572 km2. Its seat of administration was in the village Simopoulo. Pineia is named after the river Pineios, which forms its northern border. The area is hilly and sparsely populated. It is about 20 km east of Amaliada, 25 km northeast of Pyrgos and 45 km southwest of Patras.

The municipal unit has an area of 119.528 km2. Its seat of administration was the village Antroni. Lasiona is situated in a mountainous area on the border with Achaea, 20 km north of Olympia, 27 km northeast of Pyrgos and 50 km south of Patras. It is 2 km east of Stafidokampos, 4 km east of Andravida, 3 km north of Agia Mavra, 5 km northwest of Avgeio and 8 km northeast of Gastouni. It is 2 km southeast of the Andravida Air Base.
Volakas is a former municipality in Elis, West Greece, Greece. After the administrative reform of 2011, it became a part of Pyrgos. The municipal unit has an area of 70.790 km2. Its seat of administration was in the town of Epitalio.

It is 1 km southeast of Kavasila, 2 km northwest of Koroivos, 3 km west of Agia Mavra and 3 km northeast of Gastouni. The Greek National Road 9 and the railway from Patras to Pyrgos pass west of the village.
Kalyvia Myrtountion is a village in the municipal unit of Vartholomio, Elis, Greece. It is situated in a flat, rural area, on the right bank of the river Pineios, 4 km from the Ionian Sea. It is 1 km southeast of Vartholomio and 3 km west of Gastouni. In the local government reform under the Capodistrian Plan in 1997 it became a part of the municipality of Vartholomio. The patron saint of Kalyvia is Saint John Chrysostom.
