Washington is a city in Beaufort County, North Carolina, United States, located on the northern bank of the Pamlico River. The population was 9,744 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Beaufort County. It is commonly known as "Original Washington" or "Little Washington" to distinguish it from Washington, D.C. The closest major city is Greenville, approximately 20 miles (32 km) to the west.

All Souls was built by George Washington Vanderbilt II, the grandson of railroad baron, Cornelius Vanderbilt, in 1896, to serve as the local parish church for Biltmore Village, which had been developed near his Biltmore Estate. The Right Reverend José Antonio McLoughlin is the current bishop seated at the cathedral.

Built in 1911–1912, it was the home of John Sprunt Hill (1869–1961) and his wife Annie Watts Hill, daughter of George Washington Watts, co-founder of the American Tobacco Company. Notable buildings include the Beaufort County Courthouse, Havens and Fowle warehouses, Mayo Law Office, Marsh House, Myers House, Hyatt House, Griffin House, Rodman House, Elmwood, Firehouse and City Hall, Post Office and Federal Courthouse (1913), railroad station, Presbyterian church, Saint Peter's Episcopal Church, First Methodist Church (1899), Singleton Primitive Baptist Church, Blount-Bragaw Building (1901-1904), Minor House, and George T. Barker House is a historic home located at Edenton, Chowan County, North Carolina. The original house was built about 1782, and expanded during the 19th century. It is a 2+1⁄2-story frame dwelling with Georgian, Federal, and Greek Revival style design elements. It sits on a brick foundation and has at both ends a pair of single-shoulder exterior chimneys. The front facade features a full-length, two-tier porch carried on superimposed fluted pillars under a shed roof.

George W. Logan House, also known as Jobe Hill, is a historic home located near Rutherfordton, Rutherford County, North Carolina. It built about 1842, and is a one-story, five-bay, Georgian plan frame dwelling. It is sheathed in weatherboard, has a side gable roof, and two rebuilt exterior end chimneys. It was enlarged and remodeled in the 1890s and in 1985. Also on the property are the contributing brick well house, dairy, outhouse, smokehouse, granary, log double corncrib, and a large log barn. It was the home of prominent North Carolina politician George Washington Logan (1815-1889).
