The Georgian Triangle is the name of a geographic region in Southern Ontario containing the counties surrounding Georgian Bay, mostly Nottawasaga Bay, in particular. The main urban centres in the region are Collingwood, Owen Sound, and situated on Lake Simcoe Barrie and Orillia. Recreation and tourism are important parts of this area's economy, with cottages being one of the primary real estates along the coastline.
The area overlaps two other regions in Southern Ontario: Southwestern Ontario in the western half and Central Ontario in the eastern half. Some sources include the western half (Bruce and Grey counties) in a subset of Southwestern Ontario called Midwestern Ontario, which stretches southward from those counties to Haldimand and Norfolk counties on Lake Erie). Historically, the Georgian Triangle once formed the western part of "cottage country" in Ontario, but most properties are now lived in year-round. Cottage country is now more associated with areas further north, namely Muskoka, Parry Sound and Haliburton, although cottages are still common on the Bruce Peninsula at the west end of the triangle.
The counties contained in the Georgian Triangle are:
These are coloured red on the inset map.
The county of Dufferin and the District Municipality of Muskoka are sometimes considered part of the Georgian Triangle and are coloured green. The District of Parry Sound is also situated on Georgian Bay.

Southern Ontario is a primary region of the Canadian province of Ontario. It is the most densely populated and southernmost region in Canada, with approximately 13.5 million people, approximately 36% of Canada's population of 37 million. The region lies south of the province's other primary region, Northern Ontario, although the exact northern boundary of Southern Ontario is disputed. However, its core region is situated south of Algonquin Park, the latter being in an area of transition between coniferous forest north of the French and Mattawa Rivers and southern deciduous forest. It covers between 14 and 15% of the province, depending on the inclusion of the Parry Sound and Muskoka districts which also lie in the transitional area between northern and southern forest regions. Southern Ontario differs greatly from Northern Ontario, having a much higher population density, a different climate, and a different culture than its northern counterpart. It is broken into smaller subregions, including Central Ontario, Eastern Ontario, the Golden Horseshoe, and Southwestern Ontario.

Central Ontario is a secondary region of Southern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario that lies between Georgian Bay and the eastern end of Lake Ontario.
Southwestern Ontario is a secondary region of Southern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario. It occupies most of the Ontario Peninsula bounded by Lake Huron, including Georgian Bay, to the north and northwest; the St. Clair River, Lake St. Clair, and Detroit River, to the west; and Lake Erie to the south. To the east, on land, Southwestern Ontario is bounded by Central Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe. The region had a population of 2,583,544 in 2016. It is sometimes further divided into "Midwestern Ontario" covering the eastern half of the area and the heart of Southwestern Ontario encompassing the western half of the region.

Cottage country is a common name in Ontario, New Brunswick, and other regions of Canada for areas that are popular locations for recreational properties such as cottages and summer homes. Cottage country is often socially, culturally, economically, and politically distinct from other rural areas in that it is populated by a notably higher concentration of urban vacationers and residents who have an affinity for the outdoors, in contrast to more traditional rural populations, which are largely absent of "city folk", but that is less true in Western Canada. Any major population centre may have its own popular "cottage country" area.
