Hans Florian Zimmer is a German film score composer and record producer. Zimmer's works are notable for integrating electronic music sounds with traditional orchestral arrangements. Since the 1980s, he has composed music for over 150 films. His works include The Lion King, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 1995, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Interstellar, Gladiator, Crimson Tide, Inception, Dunkirk, and The Dark Knight Trilogy. He has received four Grammy Awards, three Classical BRIT Awards, two Golden Globes, and an Academy Award. He was also named on the list of Top 100 Living Geniuses, published by The Daily Telegraph.
Lisa Gerrard is an Australian musician, singer and composer who rose to prominence as part of the music group Dead Can Dance with music partner Brendan Perry. In addition to singing, she is an instrumentalist for much of her work, most prolifically using the yangqin.

Black Hawk Down is the soundtrack accompanying the 2001 film of the same name. The original score was composed by Hans Zimmer. The music was written in collaboration with several other musicians in what was referred to as "The War Room" at the Media Ventures studios. Based on jam sessions that were later edited to match the pictures, the score was produced within a few weeks. Because the end result was very experimental, Zimmer was afraid there would not be much music suitable for a listening experience on compact disc.
