The 2016 Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts took place between 22 and 26 June. [1]

Weather

The weather was very wet on Wednesday 22 June with major traffic delays getting to the festival. Organisers said that rain and ground conditions had caused delays and urged people "not to set off". [3]

Festival founder and Worthy Farm owner Michael Eavis later commented "I’ve never seen mud like it in the whole life. This is worse than 1997...In all 46 years, it hasn’t been as bad as this". [4]

Live album

A live album of numerous performances at the festival entitled Stand As One was released in aid of Oxfam and their Refugee Crisis Appeal. It is also dedicated to the memory of Jo Cox. It was released as a digital download on 29 July 2016 and as a CD on 12 August 2016. Artists including Coldplay, Foals, Muse, The Last Shadow Puppets, Fatboy Slim, Wolf Alice, CHVRCHES, Jamie Lawson, Sigur Rós, Laura Mvula, Jack Garratt, The 1975, Years & Years, Editors, Two Door Cinema Club and John Grant feature on the album. <span class="mw-page-title-main">A Head Full of Dreams Tour</span> 2016–2017 concert tour by Coldplay

The A Head Full of Dreams Tour was the seventh concert tour undertaken by British rock band Coldplay. It was announced on 27 November 2015 in support of their seventh studio album, A Head Full of Dreams, and marked a return to live performing at stadiums following the intimate shows from Ghost Stories Tour (2014), which saw the band playing in venues such as the Beacon Theatre and Royal Albert Hall. With exception of "Fun" and hidden track "X Marks the Spot", all songs from the album were played. The band combined extensive use of laser light and pyrotechnic special effects with raw, acoustic segments between stages, complementing performances with a new version of the Xylobands from Mylo Xyloto Tour (2011–12).

The NME Awards 2017 were held in London, England, on 15 February 2017, at the Brixton Academy and was hosted by English comedian Huw Stephens. Beyoncé led the nominations with five, followed by the 1975, Bastille, Christine and the Queens and Skepta with four nominations each.

The 2017 Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts took place between 21 and 25 June. The three headlining acts were Radiohead, Foo Fighters and Ed Sheeran with Barry Gibb performing in the iconic Legend's Slot.

American singer and songwriter Beyoncé headlined the 2011 Glastonbury Festival alongside acts U2 and Coldplay, performing on June 26, 2011 at the Pyramid Stage in Pilton, Somerset, England. She was the first solo Black woman to headline the Pyramid Stage, and became the first solo female artist to headline the festival since Sinéad O'Connor in 1990. While her festival headline announcement was initially met with skepticism from rock and indie music purists who considered the placement "a little too pop" for the festival, Beyoncé's performance was immediately met with critical acclaim, heralded by The Daily Telegraph as a "sassy triumph", "career-defining" by Billboard, and by others in the media as a "masterpiece", "killer", and "90 minutes of pure Bey greatness." The performance, which acted as the festival finale, generated over 2.6 million views individually, breaking the record at the time for most television views for a single performance according to BBC.

The 2024 Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts took place between 26 and 30 June at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, and followed the 2023 edition of the festival. The three headlining acts were Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and SZA, with Shania Twain performing in the traditional Sunday Legends slot.
