Edith Falco is an American actress. She is best known for portraying Carmela Soprano on the HBO series The Sopranos (1999–2007), and Nurse Jackie Peyton on the Showtime series Nurse Jackie (2009–2015). She also portrayed Diane Whittlesey in HBO's prison drama Oz (1997–2000).

The Bingham Ray Breakthrough Director Award is one of the annual Gotham Independent Film Awards and honors feature film directorial debuts. Named after Bingham Ray since 2013, the breakthrough director award was first given in 1991 as the Open Palm Award, with Jennie Livingston being the first recipient of the award, for her work in Paris Is Burning. From 1991 to 1996 only the winner was announced, since 1997, a set of 5 to 6 nominees is presented annually.

Beginners is a 2010 American romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by Mike Mills. It tells the story of a man reflecting on the life and death of his father, while trying to forge a new romantic relationship with a woman dealing with father-issues of her own. The film is based on the coming out of Mills' own father at the age of 75, five years before his death.

The 20th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards, presented by the Independent Filmmaker Project, were held on November 29, 2010 and were hosted by Patricia Clarkson and Stanley Tucci. The nominees were announced on October 18, 2010.

<i>Girlfriend</i> (2010 film) 2010 American film

Girlfriend is a 2010 American independent drama film written and directed by Justin Lerner. The film stars newcomer Evan Sneider, along with Shannon Woodward, Amanda Plummer, Jackson Rathbone, Jerad Anderson, Darren MacDonald, and made its debut at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The 23rd Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards, presented by the Independent Filmmaker Project, were held on December 2, 2013. The nominees were announced on October 24, 2013. The ceremony was hosted by Nick Kroll. It is the first Gotham Awards ceremony where the awards for best actor and best actress were given out.

Lily Gladstone is an American actress. She made her film debut in Jimmy P: Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian (2012), and went on to collaborate with filmmaker Kelly Reichardt in the independent films Certain Women (2016) and First Cow (2019). Her portrayal of a rancher in the former earned her a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female.

The 26th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards, presented by the Independent Filmmaker Project, were held on November 28, 2016. The nominees were announced on October 20, 2016. Actors Ethan Hawke and Amy Adams, director Oliver Stone and producer Arnon Milchan received tribute awards. The ceremony was hosted by Keegan-Michael Key.

The Gotham Independent Film Award for Best Feature is one of the annual Gotham Independent Film Awards and was first awarded in 2004 with Alexander Payne's Sideways being the first recipient of the award.

The 14th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards, presented by the Independent Filmmaker Project, were held on December 1, 2004. The nominees for Breakthrough Actor and Director were announced on November 1, 2004 and the nominees in the film categories were announced on November 10, 2004. The ceremony was hosted by Bob Balaban. It was the first Gotham Award ceremony where the prizes for Best Feature and Best Documentary were awarded.

The 11th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards, presented by the Independent Filmmaker Project, were held on October 1, 2001 and were hosted by Andy Dick. At the ceremony, Robert De Niro was honored with a Career Tribute, Edet Belzberg received the Anthony Radziwell Documentary Achievement Award and Uma Thurman was awarded the Actor Award. For the first and only time an Independent Vision Award was given out in memory of William J. Nisselson, longtime manager of the post-production studio Sound One Studios in New York who died in 2001 at the age of 56.

The 9th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards, presented by the Independent Filmmaker Project, were held on September 22, 1999 and were hosted by Sandra Bernhard. At the ceremony, Meryl Streep was honored with a Career Tribute, composer Carter Burwell received the Below-the-Line Award and independent film producer Christine Vachon was awarded the Producer/Industry Executive Award.

The 8th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards, presented by the Independent Filmmaker Project, were held on September 23, 1998, and were hosted by Stanley Tucci. At the ceremony, Sidney Lumet was honored with a Career Tribute, Frances McDormand received the Actor Award, Richard LaGravenese was given the Writer Award and David V. Picker was awarded the Producer/Industry Executive Award.

The 27th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards, presented by the Independent Filmmaker Project, were held on November 27, 2017. The nominees were announced on October 19, 2017. Actors Dustin Hoffman and Nicole Kidman, director Sofia Coppola, producer Jason Blum, cinematographer Ed Lachman and politician/environmentalist Al Gore received tribute awards. The ceremony was hosted by John Cameron Mitchell.

The Gotham Independent Film Award for Best Documentary is one of the annual Gotham Independent Film Awards. It was first presented in 2004 with Jonathan Demme's The Agronomist being the first recipient of the award.

The Gotham Independent Film Award for Breakthrough Performer is one of the annual Gotham Independent Film Awards. It was first awarded in 1998, with Sonja Sohn and Saul Williams being the first recipients of the award for their roles as Lauren Bell and Ray Joshua in Slam, respectively.

The Gotham Independent Film Award for Best Ensemble Cast was one of the annual Gotham Independent Film Awards awarded between 2005 and 2012. The award was called Gotham Independent Film Award for Best Ensemble Performance between 2008 and 2012.

The Gotham Independent Film Audience Award was one of the annual Gotham Independent Film Awards awarded between 2010 and 2020. The winner was determined via an online vote, in earlier years by the independent film community and film fans (2010–2013), and later by members of the Independent Filmmaker Project (2014–2020).
