"Great Escape" (stylized in lowercase) was the fourth single created by the Japanese band Cinema Staff, and their third major song. It was released by Pony Canyon on August 21, 2013, and reached the number one spot on the Billboard Japan Hot Animation chart upon its debut. The song is best remembered for its use as the ending theme for the second half of season one of Attack on Titan. [1]

The single was released alongside the coupling B-side music compilation titled "cinema staff [bokutachi no hihō] tour Final @2013.07.11 Shibuya CLUB QUATTRO" (cinema staff【僕たちの秘法】tour Final @2013.07.11 渋谷CLUB QUATTRO, lit. "cinema staff [our secret method] tour Final @2013.07.11 Shibuya CLUB QUATTRO"), which itself is composed of songs recorded live during the band's nationwide tour of Japan titled "Our Secret". [2] The songs were more specifically recorded at Shibuya Club Quattro  [ ja ] on July 11, 2013. [2]

As for the intention behind the inclusion of these songs live versions instead of their official ones, lyricist Sohei Mishima commented, "If you listen to this, even people who have never been to a band live like us can feel the atmosphere." [3]

Shinsei Kamattechan (神聖かまってちゃん) is a Japanese rock band from Chiba, formed in 2007. The band consists of Noko, Mono, and Misako (drums). They describe themselves as an "Internet Pop Rock Band", which reflects the blend of pop melodies and piano with dark lyrics and punk rock sensibilities found within their music, as well as the band's long history of broadcasting both live performances and aspects of their daily lives on the Internet.

Attack on Titan is a Japanese dark fantasy anime television series, adapted from the manga series of the same name by Hajime Isayama. The series premiered on April 7, 2013, and concluded on November 5, 2023. It has aired on MBS TV and NHK General TV. In North America, the series has been streamed on Crunchyroll, Funimation and Hulu. Attack on Titan has also aired on Adult Swim's Toonami programming block in the United States.

Cinema Staff are a Japanese alternative rock band from Gifu Prefecture, formed in 2003. Originally formed as Real when the band members were still in high school, they made their major debut on the label Pony Canyon in June 2012 with the release of their EP Into the Green. Their single "Great Escape" was used as the second ending theme to the anime television series Attack on Titan. Another single, "Kirifuda", was used as the fourth opening theme to the anime television series Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V.

The song has since been performed on at least two occasions by the band during musical tours across Japan, and has gained positions on the Billboard Japan and Oricon top single charts.
