Washington County is a county in the southwestern corner of Utah, United States. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 180,279, making it the fifth-most populous county in Utah. Its county seat and largest city is St. George. The county was created in 1852 and organized in 1856. It was named after the first President of the United States, George Washington. A portion of the Paiute Indian Reservation is in western Washington County. Washington County comprises the St. George, UT Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Utah Tech University (UT), formerly known as Dixie State University (DSU) and similar names, is a public university in St. George, Utah. The university offers about 240 programs. In the fall of 2021, there were 12,266 students enrolled at (then) DSU. The student body was 58% female and 42% male with 24% of the student body being minority (non-white) students.
Burns Arena is a multi-purpose arena in St. George, Utah. It is the home of the Utah Tech Trailblazers basketball teams. The capacity of the arena is 5,000 people. It is located near Bruce Hurst Field and Greater Zion Stadium. There are 4,779 permanent seats at Burns Arena in 14 sections. It was built in 1987 as the Dixie Center. By the time the current incarnation of Dixie Center opened in 1998, the arena took its present name. It is named after M. Anthony Burns.
The Utah Tech Trailblazers, formerly known as the Dixie State Trailblazers, the Dixie State Red Storm and the Dixie State Rebels, are the 15 varsity athletic teams that represent Utah Tech University, located in St. George, Utah, in NCAA Division I intercollegiate sports. The Trailblazers compete as members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC); in football, the school competes in the second level of D-I football, the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).

The Trailblazers compete as a member of the Western Athletic Conference at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Originally a junior college program, the school joined the NCAA at the Division II level in 2006 and played in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference from 2008 through 2016 and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for the 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons. In July 2020, they began the transition to NCAA Division I status by moving to the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in all sports except football.

They were led by second-year head coach Paul Peterson and played their home games at Greater Zion Stadium in St. George, Utah. Due to the NCAA's transition rules, they were not eligible for the 2020 FCS Playoffs.

The season was originally slated to begin on August 20, 2020 and conclude on November 9, 2020. The season was to culminate with the 2020 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament, which was to be held from November 18 to December 13, 2020, with the four-team College Cup.
The 2020 Western Athletic Conference men's soccer season will be the 38th season of men's varsity soccer in the conference. The regular season will begin on February 3, 2021 and conclude on April 10, 2021.
The 2021 Dixie State Trailblazers football team represented Dixie State University—now known as Utah Tech University—as a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) during the 2021 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by third-year head coach Paul Peterson and played their home games at Greater Zion Stadium in St. George, Utah. Due to the NCAA's transition rules, they were not eligible for the 2021 FCS Playoffs. Dixie State did not play a full WAC schedule in 2021 due to previous non-conference contracts.

The 2022 Utah Tech Trailblazers football team, will represent Utah Tech University as a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) during the 2022 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They will be led by head coach Paul Peterson, who will be coaching his fourth season overall with the program. The Trailblazers will play their home games at Greater Zion Stadium in St. George, Utah. This will be their first season playing under the Utah Tech name.
