Gulf Helicopters Company (GHC) is a Qatari helicopter services provider mainly servicing the oil and gas industry in Middle East, North Africa and Asia. It is a 100% subsidiary of Gulf International Services under the QatarEnergy umbrella, and has its headquarters in Doha, Qatar. Gulf Helicopters services include offshore operations IFR/VFR, emergency medical services, VIP executive transport, support of commercial short-term contracts, load lifting -long & short line, seismic support, onshore transport, tourist flights, aerial photo flights, aerial advertising and banner flying. The company operates a fleet of 54 [1] helicopters and has 300+ employees. They also have clients in Malta, Libya, South Africa, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran, Pakistan, India, Thailand & Malaysia.

History

Gulf Helicopters Company was established in 1970 in Doha. [2] It was initially set up in February 1973 as a joint venture company involving British Overseas Airways, British European Helicopters and Gulf Aviation Services to provide helicopter service to oil companies developing the offshore exploration and production industry. In March 1977, Gulf Aviation Company Ltd. purchased Gulf Helicopters for the intention of developing economic cooperation and air transportation for the region. Then in June 1998 the company was purchased again by Qatar General Petroleum Corporation. The company is a member of the Helicopter Association International and received the Operator's Safety Award in 1995, 1996, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 & 2022. [3]

Anduki Airfield is a domestic airfield which now primarily operates as a heliport, located in Seria, a town in the Belait District of Brunei Darussalam. Although Anduki Airfield is owned by the Government of Brunei, it is operated and managed by Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP), who currently fly Sikorsky S-92 and AgustaWestland AW139 helicopters in support of servicing offshore oil platforms. Brunei Shell Petroleum replaced the original grass airstrip with a sealed instrument runway in 2008. Future upgrades include the addition of runway lighting, and an enhanced instrument approach procedure. Operations at Anduki Airfield are carried out in accordance with regulations from the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards.

The AgustaWestland AW109S Grand is a lightweight, twin-engine, eight-seat multi-purpose helicopter built by the Italian manufacturer AgustaWestland. This rotorcraft has been developed from AgustaWestland AW109 by lengthening the cabin and main rotor blades with different tip design. The Agusta Grand is fitted with two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW207C engines whereas its predecessor AW109E has two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW206C engines. It originally entered service in 2005 and has since been used in various roles, including light transport, medevac, search-and-rescue, and military roles.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Leonardo Next-Generation Civil Tiltrotor</span> Twin-engine tiltrotor aircraft demonstrator

The Leonardo Next-Generation Civil Tiltrotor is a tiltrotor aircraft demonstrator designed and developed by the Italian aerospace company Leonardo S.p.A. Studies for a two times larger tiltrotor than the AgustaWestland AW609 started in 2000. Since 2014, its development is sponsored by the European Union's Clean Sky 2 program. By May 2021, major components were under production By 2023, the maiden flight had been pushed back to 2024, from a 2020 initial plan.

The New Medium Helicopter (NMH) is a British military programme to procure a new medium-lift support helicopter to replace several existing helicopters operated by the Royal Air Force and British Army. It is expected the new aircraft will enter service during the mid-2020s.
