Hardy Cubasch (born 27 October 1980) is an Australian former national champion and world champion rower.
Cubasch's senior rowing was done from the Queensland University Boat Club. He completed a B.Commerce at the University of Queensland by 2002.
He was first selected to represent Queensland in the men's youth eight who contested the Noel F Wilkinson Trophy in the Interstate Regatta within the 1998 Australian Rowing Championships. [1] He raced again in the Queensland youth eight in 1999. On seven occasions between 2001 and 2008 he rowed in the Queensland senior men's eight contesting the King's Cup at the Australian Interstate Regatta. [2]
In Queensland University colours and racing with his world championship partner Sam Conrad, Cubasch contested national titles at the Australian Rowing Championships. In 2005 they won the Australian men's pair and men's coxless four national titles. [3] They contested those same national titles in 2006 and in a composite selection trial crew with Drew Ginn and David Crawshay from Mercantile they won the Australian men's coxless four championship and were presented with the Bob Aitken Memorial Trophy in the first year it was awarded for that event. [4] In 2008 he contested the Australian national title for a coxed four finishing in second place. [5]
In 2009 Cubasch rowed in the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race seated at six in the Cambridge eight. The following year he was still rowing at Cambridge but was kept out of the main boat by a tendinitis injury in his wrist. He raced in their reserve boat Goldie for a victory against Isis, the reserve Oxford eight. [6] While at Cambridge he completed a M.Arts by 2011 and again rowed in the Cambridge eight in the 2011 Boat Race.
Cubasch was first selected to represent Australia in a men's junior coxed four at the 1998 Junior World Rowing Championships in Linz Ottensheim, Austria. That four placed fifth. [7]
In 2000 he was selected in the Australian men's eight who contested the World Rowing U23 Championships in Copenhagen. The Australian eight raced well but found the fancied German boat take a massive three second lead by the 1000m mark and stretched it further by the 1500. The Australians clawed some of that lead back in the last 500m but did well to keep the fast finishing US crew at bay. At the finish the Australian eight held the US crew out by .07seconds to claim the silver medal. [8]
Cubasch next figured in an Australian representative crew in 2005 when he was picked to race a coxed pair at the 2005 World Rowing Championships in Gifu, Japan with Sam Conrad at stroke and Marc Douez up front. The pair led the race from start to finish and claimed Australia's second ever World Championship title in that boat class. It was Cubasch's last representative regatta in Australian green and gold. Kate Elizabeth Slatter OAM is an Australian former rower, a sixteen time national champion, world champion and Olympic champion from Adelaide, South Australia. She is a three-time Olympian who in 1996 won Australia's first Olympic gold in women's rowing.
Matthew Ryan is a retired Australian rower, a dual Olympian and Olympic medal winner. Ryan competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics, where he won a silver medal in Coxless four. In London 2012 he rowed in the Australian men's eight which placed 6th.
The Australian Rowing Championships is an annual rowing event that determines Australia's national rowing champions and facilitates selection of Australian representative crews for World Championships and the Olympic Games. It is Australia's premier regatta, with states, clubs and schools sending their best crews. The Championships commence with the National Regatta - men's, women's and lightweight events in open, under 23, under 19, under 17 and school age events. Rowers at the National Regatta race in their local club colours with composite crews permitted. The Championships conclude with the Interstate Regatta - currently eight events competed by state representative crews or scullers selected by the state rowing associations. The states compete for an overall points tally which decides the Zurich Cup.

Since 2017 he has been Managing Director and Chief Executive of Wesfarmers, the Perth-headquartered publicly listed industrial and retail conglomerate, which in 2016 was Australia's largest company by revenue and Australia's largest employer. As a sweep-oared heavyweight rower Scott was a national champion, an eight-time crewman in West Australian King's Cup eights and a four-time Australian representative at World Rowing Championships. He is a dual Olympian oarsman who won a silver medal in a coxless pair at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Simon Burgess is an Australian national champion, two-time World Champion, three-time Olympian and dual Olympic silver medal-winning lightweight rower. He represented Australia ten times at World Rowing Championships between 1990 and 2002. He won world and national championships in both sculls and in sweep-oared boat classes during an eighteen-year elite level career.
Craig Muller is an Australian former representative rower. He is a five time national champion and Olympic bronze medallist.
James Stewart Battersby is an Australian former national champion and Olympic level rower.
Tobias (Toby) Lister is a former Australian rowing coxswain. He is a ten-time Australian national champion, competed in the men's eight at the 2012 London Olympics and won a bronze medal at World Championships in 2010.

Marc Douez is an Australian former national champion and world champion rowing coxswain.
Fergus Pragnell is an Australian former rower. He is a seven-time Australian King's Cup winner, an U23 World Champion and a medallist at senior World Championships.
Nicholas Baxter is an Australian former rower. He rowed in six New South Wales eights competing at Australia's King's Cup, was a national champion and a medallist at underage and senior World Championships.
Ian Luxford is an Australian former representative rower. He was a three time Australian champion who represented at world championships and competed in the men's coxless pair event at the 1976 Summer Olympics.
Chris Shinners is an Australian rower. He was a six-time Australian champion who represented at world championships and competed in the men's coxless pair event at the 1976 Summer Olympics.
Nicholas Silcox is an Australian former national representative lightweight rower. He won a silver medal at the 2013 World Rowing Championships.
