Fresh began his professional esports career as a Fortnite player for the Renegades in August 2018 and was soon considered one of the best players in Oceania. [6] [7] [8] In late 2019, he transitioned from being a competitive Fortnite player to a full-time streamer and content creator. He joined Luminosity Gaming in March 2020. Career

Esports and streaming

Fresh began playing Team Fortress 2 in 2007 and then started getting into other video games, such as Counter-Strike: Source and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive . He attended LAN parties to win equipment to improve his gaming setup while living with his mother in government housing. [2] [10] Fresh registered his Twitch account under the name "MrFreshAsian" in 2012, but only started streaming in 2018 after the release of Fortnite Battle Royale . [2] [11] He does not use a facecam on his streams. [12]

In August 2018, he joined professional esports organization Renegades when they acquired his Fortnite team, formerly known as "Twinsanity", consisting of himself, Hersh "Hershicals" Notani, and "X2Twins" duo Jesse and Jordan Eckley. Early that year, Fresh had dropped out of high school to concentrate on gaming. [13] He garnered numerous accolades with that team, including gold medals at Core OCE Pro League Season 1, Fortnite Champion Series Warmup: Finals – Oceania, and Fortnite Champion Series: Chapter 2: Season 1 Week 4 – Oceania, a silver medal at Fortnite Champion Series: Chapter 2: Season 1 Grand Finals – Oceania, bronze at Fortnite Champion Series: Season X – Grand Finals: Oceania, and top-three placements at several Contender Solo Cash Cup events. [8] [14]

In January 2019, he partnered with musician Jacko "JXN" Brazier in the charity Pro–Am event at the Australian Open Fortnite Summer Smash. They won and earned $50,000 AUD for charities of their choice; Fresh donated his winnings to Water.org. [15] [16] He partnered with actor Desmond Chiam at the Fortnite World Cup Pro-Am in July 2019 and finished in 15th place. [17] In February 2020, Fresh won the second edition of the Fortnite Summer Smash Pro-Am, along with fellow Australian YouTuber Lachlan and musician Enschway. [18] Fresh donated his share of the $30,000 AUD prize money to The Hunger Project. [19]

In November 2019, he decided to leave the Renegades and competitive Fortnite in order to pursue full-time streaming and YouTube content creation. [2] [8] In March 2020, he joined Luminosity Gaming as a content creator. [6] [10] That May, he changed his Twitch and YouTube channel names to "Fresh". [20] As of August 2020, he has streamed for over 4,700 hours on Twitch, [11] and his channel has reached over 3 million followers, ranking as the 22nd most-followed channel on the platform. [9]

Fresh registered his YouTube account also under the name "MrFreshAsian" in 2016, and uploaded his first YouTube video on 14 May 2018. [4] [21] He produces a variety of videos consisting of challenges, memes, and video game commentaries primarily of Fortnite and often collaborates with fellow Australian YouTubers LazarBeam and Muselk. [6] In February 2020, Fresh joined the entertainment collective Click (also known as the Click Crew), alongside other Australian YouTubers. [22] [23] However, that July, Click announced they would "stop filming [group] videos for the foreseeable future" with the members wanting to "spend time working on [their] own content". [24] In May 2020, Fresh signed with digital network BroadbandTV as a content partner. [25] [26]

As of August 2020, his YouTube channel has over 6 million subscribers and 1 billion views, [4] ranking as the 18th most-subscribed channel on the platform from Australia. [27] He also created an eponymous channel in July 2020, which has over 300 thousand subscribers. [28]
