Health Care

Northern Cyprus has a public healthcare system which is available to all those who have social security insurance, and their partners and children. Use of the accident and emergency departments is free to anyone. 2023 patients were sent for treatment in Turkey at public expense in 2010, 22% for cardiovascular disease and 16% for cancer treatment. There are also private hospitals and private polyclinics and it is possible for people to get treatment in the Republic of Cyprus. [2]

Gülsen Bozkurt is a Turkish Cypriot doctor and politician. She served as a member of the parliament between 1993 and 2003 and as the Minister of Health and the Environment between 1999 and 2001. She was one of the first Turkish Cypriot women in politics and the second female minister after Onur Borman.

Faiz Sucuoğlu is a Turkish Cypriot politician who was the prime minister of Northern Cyprus from 5 November 2021 to 12 May 2022.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">İzlem Gürçağ Altuğra</span> Northern Cypriot politician (born 1972)

İzlem Gürçağ Altuğra is a Turkish Cypriot politician and medical scientist. Born in Limassol, she worked as a biologist before being elected as a National Unity Party MP at the 2013 Northern Cypriot parliamentary election. She spent three years as the head of Girne District between 2015 and September 2018 and fifteen months as Minister of Health between May 2022 and August 2023.
