Heptodonta is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are about 15 described species in Heptodonta. [1] [2]
These 15 species belong to the genus Heptodonta:
Tiger beetles are a family of beetles, Cicindelidae, known for their aggressive predatory habits and running speed. The fastest known species of tiger beetle, Rivacindela hudsoni, can run at a speed of 9 km/h, or about 125 body lengths per second. As of 2005, about 2,600 species and subspecies were known, with the richest diversity in the Oriental (Indo-Malayan) region, followed by the Neotropics. While historically treated as a subfamily of ground beetles (Carabidae) under the name Cicindelinae, several studies since 2020 indicated that they should be treated as a family, the Cicindelidae, which are a sister group to Carabidae within the Adephaga.
Dorcus is a genus of beetles in the stag beetle family Lucanidae. Of the over 100 species, most occur in Asia and India; two are found in southern Europe, and two species are from North America. Previously, specimens with serriform teeth on the mandibles and sable pigment were called Serrognathus whereas specimens with but a singular or multiple bulky notches on the mandibles and lustrous sable pigmentation were called Dorcus.
Apteroessa grossa is a species of tiger beetles in the family Cicindelidae, the sole species in the genus Apteroessa and described on the basis of a specimen from the Coromandel region (Tranquebar) in southern India. It is somewhat large and robust, and is among the few tiger beetles with highly reduced wings (aptery) making them flightless. There are three known specimens in museums, with varying degrees of damage. The species has not been seen in the wild after its description in the 18th century and is thought to be extremely local in distribution.
Callytron is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are about 11 described species in Callytron.
Collyris is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are about 10 described species in Collyris.
Hypaetha is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are about 14 described species in Hypaetha.
Jansenia is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are at least 40 species in the genus, all of which are found only in South Asian region, with several endemic to India and Sri Lanka. The genus is characterized on the basis of the male genitalia.
Naviauxella is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 20 described species in Naviauxella, found in Southeast Asia.
Pronyssa is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are about eight described species in Pronyssa.
Prothyma is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 40 described species in Prothyma.
Protocollyris is a genus of tiger beetles in the family Cicindelidae, tribe Collyridini.
Rhytidophaena is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are at least four described species in Rhytidophaena.
Therates is a genus of tiger beetles found in South and Southeast Asia. A study of two species in the Philippines suggests that females tend to be larger with wider elytra width.
Tricondyla is a genus of tiger beetles in the family Cicindelidae. There are more than 40 described species in Tricondyla, found in South and Southeast Asia, and in Oceania.
Pericalus is a genus in the beetle family Carabidae. There are at least 40 described species in Pericalus, found in the south, southeast, and east of Asia.
Odontolabis is a genus of beetles belonging to the family Lucanidae.
Cicindela aurulenta, common name blue-spotted or golden-spotted tiger beetle, is a beetle of the family Cicindelidae.
Trigonotoma is a genus in the beetle family Carabidae. There are more than 50 described species in Trigonotoma.
Neocollyris smaragdina is a species in the tiger beetle family Cicindelidae. It was described by Horn in 1894.
Calochroa is a genus of beetles belonging to the family Cicindelidae. Some authors treat them within the broader genus Cicindela. The genus as used in 2020 shows polyphyly with Calochroa species forming two clades with one clade being a sister to the genus Lophyra and another being a sister to the genus Hipparidium.
