Following his unsuccessful campaign in the 2016 Tokyo gubernatorial election,he founded the Japan First Party in August 2016 and is currently the party's leader.
Ekan Ikeguchi is a Japanese Shingon Buddhist priest,currently the High Priest of Saifukuji in Kagoshima and Shojoshin-in on Mount Koya. He holds a doctorate in medicine from Yamaguchi University and is an expert in the goma fire ritual. He has spoken at Harvard University and performed a ritual at the World Trade Center site in October 2001. Ikeguchi recently returned to the United States in November 2012 to preside over the goma fire ritual in Los Angeles to commemorate Koyasan Buddhist Temple's 100th anniversary.
The 2014 Tokyo gubernatorial election took place on February 9,2014 to replace outgoing Governor Naoki Inose,who resigned effective December 24,2013. Yōichi Masuzoe was declared the winner in exit polling,with a substantial lead over the fifteen other candidates. His final tally was 2,112,979 votes (42.86%),with his two closest competitors Morihiro Hosokawa and Kenji Utsunomiya failing to break the 20% mark. Total turnout was 4,930,251 (46.14%),significantly lower than the 62.6% turnout in the 2012 election.

The 2016 Kagoshima gubernatorial election was held on 10 July 2016 and contested by the three-term incumbent Yuichiro Ito and political journalist Satoshi Mitazono. Ito was denied a fourth term in office,as Mitazono received 55% of the vote following a campaign based primarily on change as well as opposition to the prefecture's operating nuclear power plant. The election was held on the same day as the national House of Councillors election,which helped increase voter turnout to 58.6%,compared to 43.8% at the previous election in 2012.

She previously served as Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Justice from 2020 to 2021 under the Suga Cabinet.
Ryutaro Nonomura is a Japanese former politician and convicted fraudster known for his crying outburst during a press conference in 2014. Being elected to the Hyogo Prefectural Assembly in 2011,Nonomura had a short legislative career before resigning in 2014 due to a financing scandal. His press conference became a meme due to his hysterical crying after being asked to explain his finances. In 2016,he was sentenced to three years in prison and four years suspended sentence for expenses fraud and misuse of funding.
Naoki Takashima was a Japanese politician. A member of the Liberal Democratic Party,he served as President of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly from 2014 to 2015.
